San Antonio Regional Hospital has been rated among the elite hospitals in the nation for heart bypass surgery! The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) has given San Antonio a distinguished three-star rating for patient care and outcomes in isolated coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) procedures. The three-star rating denotes the highest category of quality. The STS star rating system is one of the most sophisticated and highly regarded overall measures of quality in health care, rating the outcomes of cardiothoracic surgery programs across the United States and Canada. Hospitals who participate in STS’s National Database must publicly report their data, demonstrating a commitment to quality improvement and to helping patients and their families make informed decisions about their healthcare. The latest analysis of San Antonio Regional Hospital data for heart bypass surgery covered a 3-year period, from July 2020 to June 2023 and included 428 patients. Only 20% of STS participants receive a 3-star rating. #HereForLife #STSaward
