This morning I delved into MetLife's comprehensive employee benefits trend study and found striking parallels with the employment landscape in Kenya. The study underscores the significance of employee well-being, highlighting six key elements that underscore wellbeing: 1. Compensation 2. Flexibility/work-life balance 3. Purpose 4. Professional growth and training 5. Social and supportive culture 6. Wellness programs/benefits - (Our Specialty at Afya Athletic) Notably, the report reveals that 86% of employees satisfied with five or more of these elements perceive that they are genuinely cared for by their employers. In contrast, only 31% of employees content with fewer than three elements feel cared for and valued. I also found interesting that the study illuminates critical "moments" in the employment experience where employer support profoundly impacts employees' sense of being valued and cared for. These moments range from significant life events like the loss of a loved one to seemingly mundane occurrences such as welcoming a new pet into the family. I'm eager to delve deeper into the report's insights and share additional findings. You can access the full report below for a more comprehensive understanding of these trends. https://lnkd.in/dsCQctbW

So many organizations are pushing for a one size fits all approach, when it comes to employee benefits. The general thought is that the cost savings are way more significant and employees will be “just fine” with whatever coverage they receive. Uh uh uhhh… Now would be a great time to reconsider this approach, as today's employees are confidently voicing their diverse needs and becoming more intentional in demanding benefits that: ✅ Help safeguard their wellbeing; ✅ Allow them access to work-life balance; ✅ Enable them to plan financial futures for themselves and their families. To better understand the offerings that work best for your organization and its employees, by all means: 💡Conduct a market research; 💡Administer a pulse survey; 💡Review the benefits’ utilization rates, and; 💡Keep an eye on your budget. Even so, never ever turn a blind eye to the fact that a fair employee benefits package is key to: 🔑 Attracting and retaining talent; 🔑 Reducing absenteeism; 🔑 Increasing engagement; 🔑 Boosting productivity, and; 🔑 Driving profitability. It's time to tap into these mutual gains and watch our teams flourish.🌱 #employeebenefits #employerbranding #wellness #wellbeing #productivity #profitability #mutualgains

If companies don’t see the value in looking after their people for the sake of better outcomes, maybe senior leaders will grasp the idea when they realise that ignoring employee wellbeing can end up costing the business more in the long run.
