Road cycling and investor meetings don't go together? Those who have attended our Stockpicker Summits know that the opposite is true. That's why we're launching a new format: 𝗛𝗔𝗜𝗕 𝗖𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗖𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 🚴♂️ Our concept consists of two components: 1. Investor meetings with a twist We bring European investors together with exciting listed companies. And where better to do this than on a road bike? Admittedly, conversations aren't ideal during an ascent, but they're all the better over a bite to eat afterwards or on the flat sections. 2. Every kilometer counts ❣ To ensure that not only the tour participants benefit but also people in need of help, we will set a charitable cause in advance. Everyone can then decide for themselves how much to donate per kilometer completed. The minimum pledge is €1. The locations will vary. We'll start with 📍 Mallorca! Cyclists know the island is the perfect spot for this format. There are only two conditions: No e-bikes and no Rabobank jerseys :) I am already looking forward to the first rides together. To all investors and CEOs of listed companies: If you're interested in joining our format, feel free to send me a message!

There's an old saying that goes like "if you want to change yourself, dare what you have never dared before.” It's with this spirit that, on 27th April, I will be taking part in the 'Race Around The Netherlands' (https://lnkd.in/dVGngjUi) - the most challenging bike race in the Netherlands. It's a fully self-supported bike race over 1,900 km, a part of the challenge is for the individual biker to come up with their own strategy for tackling logistics around arranging accommodation, planning breaks, food and even sleep. In a nutshell, it's a bikepacking competition. I take this challenge for many reasons; one of them is that I believe we have undiscovered physical and mental capacities but we don’t use them because we are surrounded by barriers we do not see. Break those barriers and you’ll find your real self. Another reason I do this is for a cause. I strongly believe that change can be brought about only with personal commitment and collective involvement. So, as I'm busy with training and preparations, please join me in my first ultra-cycling challenge by morally supporting me through a donation to help Justdiggit fight climate change by re-greening Africa (Bundraiser: a fundraiser for a cooler planet!) #ultrachallenge #walkintheparknot #fundraising #racecycling #Conservation

Yesterday, over 50,000 people ran the London Marathon After months of training and mindboggling commitment, they pushed themselves to the absolute limit and achieved something really amazing. What if that effort had gone towards defending life on Earth? I have incredible respect for marathon runners, I couldn’t do it. They have achieved something really fantastic, and I salute them - they are a testament to the power of human will But we’re deep in a planetary emergency and that means society has to reconsider its priorities Many people say they don’t take part in climate action because they just can’t find the time in their busy lives. Yet many marathon runners are overworked professionals with young families, and they still found time to train because they made it a personal priority Many ran as a way to make the world a better place, to raise money for their important causes. It's a wonderful commitment, thank you. But what if those hundreds of hours of training instead went to confronting the power structures that make their cause necessary in the first place? I worry about what this says about our sense of agency. Folk seem to feel the only way to make a difference is to raise money for charities and campaigners. We feel it’s the job of others to make the world better, so we leave it to the professionals (like most of my network here) and support them with cash But that model is failing. Charities and campaigners can’t do it on their own, not even with unlimited budgets. Leaving action to others is why we’re in an emergency in the first place To get out of this we need to reach social tipping points, when momentum towards change becomes unstoppable. To reach it, we need everyone to get involved, and make climate action every bit as much of a personal mission as running a marathon is Many runners feel real elation - it's part sense of achievement & part runner’s high, but often it seems more than that. It seems also to come from having had a real sense of purpose. A deep satisfaction from committing oneself to something bigger than our day-to-day grind Well there’s no greater sense of purpose to be had than coming together with your fellow humans to fight for a better future & the survival of all we love. It’s not a struggle with a clear end point like a marathon, but you get more than a PB and a medal You get to know you tried

Helping deliver quality service, products and technology driven solutions to all our broker partners
As August has arrived, I wanted to share an event I am participating in: Paris-Brest-Paris (not the pastry). Paris-Brest-Paris is held every 4 years, and originated back in 1891. It is an endurance cycling event of just over 750 miles and 36,000-39,000ft of climbing (nobody really knows!) that begins just outside of Paris, goes to the coast of France (Brest), then returns to Paris. There is a 80 hour cutoff in order to be listed amongst the finishers (anciens), however, my personal goal, is to complete the event in under 56 hours, 40 minutes, the time standard set by the first American finisher in 1901, Charly Miller. This will require a combination of speed, endurance, good nutrition, time management, and the ability to ride for that amount of time on about 3-4 hours of sleep over the 2 days of riding. That time goal is not going to be easy and I dont take anything for granted - It’s definitely something that is going to test my mettle. Many people have asked how they might track or support me in this endeavor. For tracking, the event begins Sunday August 20th at 4pm (Central European Summer Time)(10am Eastern). “I will be out of office for this period of time…LOL” On a desktop browser, navigate to https://lnkd.in/eutm5a7X Under the heading “The Randonnée” select “followed” (I put French words in the wrong tense too - no judgement here). If you do that now, it will still bring up the 2019 tracker, (which I think everyone has finished). It should be replaced by the current year tracking close to the event start date. I think you can search by name. If not, my number plate is A009. You will also find a lot of additional information about P-B-P on their website, for those who are curious. If you are looking to show support of my ride, I appreciate any positive well wishes. I also created a fundraiser for a non-profit in Pittsburgh that monitors and fights for clean air. With the wildfires and ongoing air quality issues stemming from our remaining legacy steel operations, they have been around for over 50 years fighting for clean air. I encourage to give my fundraiser below and GASP a closer look. It’s my hope that maybe I can raise a little money for a non-profit I support. https://gofund.me/56131dad

Translating passion for 🚴♂️ with Cyclinguists® 🚴♀️✍️ | English & French to Czech | Bicycles, sports and tech | Vanslator, location independent freelancer, sustainability & ergonomics enthusiast
21st December, almost there. There's not much to say about this window in my bike advent calendar. You probably already know everything about it. Bike sharing. 🚲 Perfect solution for any city. I've used bike sharing in several countries and cities, it's great for tourists, but also for locals. Healthier alternative to public transportation, you'll see much more from the city and you can avoid traffic jams. Great example is my favorite Rekola bikesharing, a Czech company that actually had only reconditioned bikes in their fleet at the start! Give it a try... or buy someone a subscription for Christmas 🎄 What was your best experience with bike sharing? Any guesses about the amount of bikes and bike parts we kept out of the landfill? So far in 2023, we have redistributed, repurposed, and recycled approximately 46,744 lbs of bikes and bike parts - roughly 23 tons, or the weight of a fully-loaded firetruck! Through the efforts of those donating bikes (thank you!) and our hardworking volunteers and staff, we safely repaired bikes, redistributed them to community partners, sold them at a cost-flexible price, refurbished them for sale in the shop, or recycled bikes and bike parts that were not repairable. In the world of parenting, the mantra of "reduce, reuse, recycle" extends beyond just environmental consciousness; it also makes practical and financial sense. When it comes to outfitting young athletes with sports gear, the allure of brand new equipment may seem strong, but the benefits of opting for second-hand items are plentiful. See what we think those benefits are on our Grassboots blog… https://lnkd.in/egBJjBSb #EarthDay 🌍 #circulareconomy #reuse ♻️ #reducewaste #recycle #recycling #SportForAll #Fundraising 💰 #sustainable 🌿 #community #SportsKitRecycling 🔄 #preloved ❤️ #secondhand #grassroots #sportswear 👕 #communityclubs #LocalClubs 🏠 #sportsclubs #donating #donate #RecycleAndRaise ♻️ #CommunitySupport 👥 #SportClubSolutions ⚽ #AffordableSports 🎽 #PrelovedSportsGear 👟 #GrassrootsSupport 🌾 #EcoFriendlySports 🌍 #ParentsSupport 👨👩👧👦 #ClubRegistration ✍️ #YouthSports 🧒 #GrassbootsApp 📱

When my son and I did our TransAlps in the past, we always thought about combining it with a good cause. Today, I am humbled to kick off our “Tech@Speed Charity Bike Tour 2023” from Munich to Lake Garda. Together with my colleagues from Technology Consulting at EY we have planned this event for the last months. We had a nomination process for the potential organizations, where many colleagues contributed their ideas. The outcome are three organizations, which care about the people that matter most to us, our children. We would like to support projects of those organizations, each of them has a budget of about EUR 50.000. We have no idea, how successful we will be in raising donations, but will do our best. I am grateful for all the colleagues which spend many hours preparing and planning this trip. For this year we did limit it to a small group of riders, but our vision is to establish this event for the upcoming years as an event together with colleagues and clients, with friends and families. Most of us have not been bike enthusiasts, some even had to organize a bike to practice. Our mission is to master the challenge together. We are looking forward to your support, keep your fingers crossed for some nice weather, that everyone arrives safely, and last but not least, that we receive as much support as possible. The Alpine Mission: Cycling for a better future We, an ambitious team from the ranks of EY's Technology Consulting, have a vision: a bike tour with clients, friends and family members through the breathtaking alpine landscape - and not just to cross sporting boundaries. Rather, we want to move hearts. The hearts of the competitors in the saddle and the hearts of everyone. Our goal is to support children who are fighting for survival every day and to raise the awareness of all of us. With your support for every single kilometer we cover, you can donate valuable funds to charitable organizations that work tirelessly to help children in need. Tech@Speed thus sees itself as an impetus for cycling for a better future. Your donations will not go to EY, but directly from you to the charitable organizations. The route through the Alps - more than just a route: From Munich's bustling streets to the idyllic shores of Lake Garda, we will cover over 440 kilometers and over 3500 meters of altitude in just four days. Our commitment and determination are aimed at taking each of you - colleagues, family, and our valued customers and friends - on this inspiring journey. Follow our bike ride on Instagram (@techatspeed_bike_tour_2023) and be a part of our ambition to help children and make the world a little bit better.
