🛥 Boatbuilding is one of the many applicative markets of composite materials. And as it is the case for other sectors, improving #sustainability and #circularity while maintaining a high level of quality and aesthetics is one of today's crucial challenges. 📢 Reparaciones Náuticas Amura was present during the #Navilia2024 exhibition. This event is an international shipbuilding exhibition that was held from the 21st to the 23rd of May at the IFEVI in Vigo’s Exhibitions Center. It was an opportunity to present the MC4 project to the public and companies in the maritime sector. Universidade da Beira Interior is part of the European Project #GRESINT, focused on #Artificial #Intelligence applied to waste, aiming for #sustainability. Under the leadership of Sogama – Galician Society of the Environment, a public company from Galicia, and with the participation of CITIC Centro de Investigacion TIC - Universidade da Coruña, along with LIPOR . This aims to contribute to #European #recycling goals by introducing high-quality #recoveredmaterials into the production cycle to replace virgin products. This combination of materials results in high-performance materials that meet important technical requirements for vehicle interiors. They have high strength and rigidity combined with low density and therefore offer great lightweight construction potential in the areas of traffic and transportation, as well as furniture and exhibition stand construction, leisure and sport. In addition, these materials can be manufactured with a high proportion of renewable raw materials and thus contribute to reducing CO2 emissions. 👀 ⚡ 💡Booth E5b - Project 2: Switchable electrochromic films for controlling the shading of buildings The aim of this ongoing project is to combine ETFE film facades with electrochromic films based on organic materials. By applying a low switching voltage of less than 3 volts, the shading of the panes can be infinitely adjusted. This is intended to control the shading and thus the heat input into buildings; the active air conditioning effort is reduced. One advantage of organic electrochromic materials is their fast response when darkening and a wide range of colors. Other advantages include low energy consumption, and the coloration is retained for several hours even when no voltage is applied thanks to the optical storage properties of the polymers. 🌿 Sustainable Innovation in Construction: the hermETICS Project In TESELA we continue innovating and advancing the European project hermETICS. 🏠 The project is framed within the sustainable construction sector and consists of the development of mortars for Exterior Thermal Insulation Composite Systems (ETICS) with high lightness and self-healing properties. On the one hand, the mortar uses waste vehicle tyres or "End of Life Tyres" (ELT) 🚗, which act not only as a lightening material, but also reduce the environmental impact by introducing waste into the value chain. This represents a sustainable alternative to comply with the environmental strategies proposed by the European Commission.
