The coach doesn't run the show - the true performance, the success is won by the team. They are giving each other pep talks, they are communicating with one another when they are making passes and they are the ones giving each other feedback when a teammate screws up or they will pat each other on the back when they do a good job. Athletes are accountability partners to one another. The world of sports has the art of accountability pretty dialed in and our hybrid teams should learn from this. Here are 3 tips we can take from Professional Sports that will help our hybrid teams step up and play a role in holding one another accountable. 1. Clarify how teammates contribute to team success. 2. Proclaim that you will hold each other accountable. (We are a unified team) - Speaking this aloud is key. 3. Ensure that teammates follow through. Empowering hybrid teammates to hold one another accountable is a measure we can all take to foster internal support and help these teams thrive. #hybridteams

Communication - the foundation for building team cohesion 📢⚽ Working as a #MentalCoach, I've seen firsthand how communication can either make 🎖 or break 📉 a team. So, I decided to share my experience and provide some tips on how to up your communication game within your squad. Here are some nuggets to help your team reach their full potential: 1️⃣ Trust and Respect: Firstly, it's all about creating an environment where players and staff feel valued and heard. When trust and respect are the norm, communication flows naturally. 🤝 2️⃣ Active Listening: This one's huge. Listening isn't just waiting for your turn to talk; it's about really hearing what the other person has to say. So, let's all practice some active listening, shall we? 👂🗣️ 3️⃣ Roles and Responsibilities: No one likes being in the dark. Define everyone's roles and responsibilities upfront. That way, there's no confusion, and everyone knows what's expected of them. 📋👥 4️⃣ Constructive Feedback: Feedback is gold. Encourage your squad to give and receive it graciously. Remember, it's not about criticizing; it's about helping each other grow. 🌟🔄 5️⃣ Leading by Example: Coaches and senior players, this one's for you! Your actions speak louder than words. Show your team what good communication looks like by practicing it yourself. 👍💡 6️⃣ Clear Channels: Ever heard of the saying, "Communication is key"? Well, it's true! Make sure everyone knows where to go to get the info they need and check to see if they act accordingly. 7️⃣ Continuous Improvement: Like any skill, communication can always be improved. Encourage your squad to work on it constantly. Whether it's through training sessions, group activities or just being mindful of how they communicate, every little bit helps. 📈✨ Let's keep the conversation going! Unlocking the Secret to Effective Player Management: The Key Ingredients In the dynamic world of sports and team management, understanding the core of effective player management is crucial. Today, I want to share insights into what I believe is the key ingredient in this complex recipe: **Empathy**. Empathy goes beyond mere understanding; it's about genuinely putting ourselves in the shoes of our players, grasping their perspectives, challenges, and motivations. It's the bridge that connects management strategies with the human element of sports, ensuring that decisions are not just about winning games but also about nurturing growth, resilience, and a positive team culture. **Why Empathy?** 1. **Builds Trust:** When players feel understood, they're more likely to trust their coaches and management. This trust is foundational for open communication, feedback, and player development. 2. **Enhances Performance:** By addressing individual needs and concerns, we can tailor our approach to unlock each player's potential, leading to improved performance on the field. 3. **Fosters Team Unity:** Empathy encourages a supportive environment where players feel valued and connected, essential for team cohesion and collective success. **Implementing Empathy in Player Management:** - **Active Listening:** Truly listen to what players are saying, both verbally and non-verbally. This shows respect and opens the door for honest communication. - **Personalized Feedback:** Tailor your feedback to fit the individual. Recognize their efforts and provide constructive criticism in a way that resonates with them. - **Support Beyond the Game:** Show interest and support for their lives outside of the sport. This holistic approach helps in building a deeper relationship. In conclusion, while strategies, skills, and tactics are vital, the heart of player management lies in empathy. It's about seeing the person behind the player, understanding their journey, and guiding them with compassion and respect. As we continue to navigate the complexities of sports management, let's remember that at the core of every team, every strategy, and every victory is a group of individuals looking to be understood and valued. #PlayerManagement #EmpathyInSports #TeamBuilding #Leadership #SportsManagement

Helping you develop extraordinary teams by increasing the quality of conversation. Author of "The Gift of Collaborative Feedback" MD of Curious Learning Ltd
Building a World-Class Senior Team: More than Just an "Away Day" Experience Let's talk about what it truly takes to build a world-class team. You see, there are various types of teams out there, from sports teams to military units, emergency response teams, music bands, and orchestras. But when it comes to the corporate world, one common misconception we often witness is the tendency for leaders to take their teams away on an "Away Day" to foster bonding and camaraderie. Don't get me wrong; team-building activities can be fun and productive. However, they're not the magic recipe for creating a world-class team. Take, for instance, the world of sports. Imagine Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, gathering his star players for a few days of bonding and connection. Will that alone produce a world-class team? The answer is a resounding no. The secret lies in consistent practice and the development of habits, combined with ongoing review and improvement. In the world of football, creating a world-class team is about mastering the basics. It's about doing the fundamentals better than anyone else – controlling the ball, precise passing, finding space, closing down opponents' space, effective communication, and moving as a cohesive unit. Similarly, in the corporate realm, especially within senior teams, building a world-class team is more than just occasional team-building retreats. It's about honing the core competencies, such as fostering clarity in conversations that lead to high-quality decision-making, aligning actions, setting clear expectations, and consistently providing valuable feedback, in a way that fosters trust. So, as a leader, here's the crucial question to ponder: Are you genuinely dedicated to building a world-class team, or are you simply relying on a couple of "Away Days" with bonding experiences to get the job done? It's clear that the path to excellence in any field, whether in sports or the corporate world, demands continuous effort, practice, and the nurturing of essential skills. Building a world-class team isn't a one-off event; it's a journey of ongoing development, refinement, and dedication to the fundamentals. So, let's re-evaluate our team-building strategies and aim for greatness together! PS. What are your tips for building amazing teams? #TeamBuilding #DoingTheBasicsWell #ContinualPractice
