CMMC has been published as a proposed rule. We are now in the comment period. Out-of-the-gate entities will need to pass 88 of 110 controls but will be allowed to work on the remaining ones which must be completed in 180 days. Here is a good article about it: https://lnkd.in/gSngeF4U

CMMC Converations: No meaningful changes to the overall timeline with five important considerations: 1) The requirements we are focused on now are being enforced NOW under DFARS 7012, 7019, 7020, 7024 and that includes the reporting requirement for your SPRS Score. 2) The CMMC rule going to the White House and OMB for review prior to publishing for public review is simply the details about the third party certification of the current requirements every 3 years. 3) The DoD is likely to rollout a policy change which places certain limitations on the plan of action & milestone (POA&M) items. 4) The new changes to the NIST SP 800-171 completed their first public review, but are expected to go into enforcement about the same time as the CMMC rule and will require an "independent third party assessment". 5) The relationship between the NIST required "independent third party assessment" and "certification" under CMMC is not entirely clear, but reciprocity would seem to be a reasonable expectation. #CISC #cmmc #cmmcconversations #CUI #NIST #DoD #CUI #DIB #cybersecurity #compliance #nationalcybsecuritystrategy #DTCglobal #ReganEdens #CMMCePU
