2SLGBTQI Projects Fund 2024 Call for Proposals- APPLY TODAY!!! Deadline: April 10, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. (noon) Pacific time Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE) works to advance equality with respect to sex, sexual orientation and gender identity or expression through the inclusion of people of all genders, including women, in Canada’s economic, social and political life. Context for the call for proposals Although much progress has been made in Canada towards protecting rights and improving equality for 2SLGBTQI communities, stigma and discrimination persist, and drive long-standing and ongoing inequities for 2SLGBTQI people in Canada. Under Canada's first federal 2SLGBTQI Action Plan, funding has been made available to support work by 2SLGBTQI organizations to address barriers to 2SLGBTQI equality. Objective of the call for proposals The objective of this call for proposals is to advance the equality of 2SLGBTQI people. Community-informed projects will address needs and barriers to equality. Here are some examples of projects that align with this call for proposals: Improve Indigenous 2SLGBTQI people's access to resources and supports adapted to their needs. Identify and address barriers to resources and supports. Amplify trans voices in 2SLGBTQI communities. Address barriers to their access to leadership positions in the community.

Love this! Congratulations, Tarra Simmons, on escaping the lifelong condemnation of criminal conviction. I just wish this happened far more frequently, Christopher Poulos. The United States desperately needs an effective mechanism to make this possible at the Federal level. Pardons and clemencies cannot stay so rare that they are statistically insignificant when Grand Jury indictments and subsequent convictions are statistically guaranteed (with 98% rates). Legal discrimination is abundant for persons who are convicted and have served their prison sentence, from employment to banking, credit, housing, travel, volunteering, and more. Four years after release from Federal Bureau of Prisons custody, 1 in 3 persons are unable to obtain any work (let alone living wage work). Yet one of the single most influential factors in recidivism is gainful employment. After people have “paid a debt to society,” the common term for prison sentences, shouldn’t we want them to fully re-enter society? As our affiliates head from the listening process into the research phase, let’s talk about a common question: what does ‘research’ have to do with community organizing? The research that we do isn’t research for research’s sake. Our research is grassroots, action-oriented, and performed by the community itself. Everyday people of faith perform research by talking to those affected by the problem; uncovering effective, proven solutions; and identifying which public officials have the power to put those solutions in place. As we research, we are not trying to become ‘experts’ - our congregations are filled with people who have experienced these problems themselves. ‘Expertise’ means bringing those who are affected by a problem to the decision-making table: a sheriff has one kind of expertise, but a mother who lost her son to gun violence has a whole other. And above all, we never forget that in organizing, no amount of research makes up for a lack of power. #communityorganizing #DART #justice #nonprofitjobs #peoplepower

Earning #backlinks for your piece of writing/infographic/report becomes difficult because instant value-creation is a tough task for development organisations in general. Also, big organisations like the United Nations in this space have built such a high authority, credibility and legacy over time that you have to really stand out for your work to reflect in the mentions of others. Let’s not forget that real impact— both qualitative and quantitative— after all, takes time, a considerable amount of it. What works best for nonprofits to create linkable assets is in-depth research like ASER Centre does or case studies with intensely humane and succinct data points that can be replicated by others. Or, which gives others, real hope.
