Synaptive's first ICG cases completed with Modus X! The neurosurgery department at Allegheny Health Network completed the first Near-Infrared Fluorescence cases using Synaptive's 4K 3D robotic exoscope, Modus X. Five years ago, #GlobalCardiacSurgery was first raised in the academic literature. In the years since, the field has moved from an afterthought in global health, global surgery, and clinical cardiac surgery to a tipping point wherein professional societies provide platforms, journals support research, NGOs collaborate and advocate, and locally- and globally-driven evidence informs sustainable partnerships and health systems innovation. But, there is still much to do: six billion people still lack access to safe, timely, and affordable cardiac surgical care, requiring collaboration and political commitment to change the narrative.
