A huge pleasure to take part in this discussion and many thanks to Lisa and the Writer’s Guild for hosting it. As you’ll see if you watch it, I’m keen to start a conversation about the way the industry views soap writers. We are an enormous, vastly experienced, largely untapped resource that could - and should - be working across the industry to tell new, original stories. If producers and commissioners could recognise CDS writers more, offering them the chance to create new work and to be part of writing teams on other shows, then there would be far more opportunities for new voices from every demographic to make their way into the industry. The ladder of career progression has all but disappeared. I think it’s time to bring it back. Writing for CDS shows is - in screenwriting terms - like spending every day working out at the gym. We’re fast, precise, endlessly creative, and we deliver quality scripts day in day out to hard immovable deadlines. So - have a listen to the discussion and let me know what you think. It’s a time of great change in our industry, which means it’s a time of huge opportunity. Let’s put the experienced CDS writers to work and get things moving again!

Quality of life for the most complex of us.
In complex care, we know that improved quality of life is a key outcome. But how do we measure improvement in quality of life, when it means different things for each of our participants? In a new blog post from our Medical Director Jubril Oyeyemi and Senior Program Manager Danielle Hodges, MHS, learn about a promising new approach we’ve been taking to measure participants’ progress to the goals that they set themselves: https://lnkd.in/d7bJkBrY

Imagine: You have chest pain. You suspect it’s a heart attack, but the closest hospital is an hour away. This is reality for millions of rural Americans. It’s just one of the reasons people who live in rural areas get sicker and die sooner than people in urban areas. The American Heart Association is committed to closing the gap between urban and rural care, working with people in rural communities to increase access to care, improve quality of care and reduce risk factors. Learn more the challenges rural Americans face and what you can do to help at http://spr.ly/6185j24HR.

To be in the right place in the right time
I couldn’t have said it better than Anna Khanna, so I borrow her words to express the surreal moment of having the honor of meeting Dr. Grotta and giving him a tour of our own Mobile Stroke Treatment Unit. “Today is the landmark day only this crew and Christina Wilson can understand the meaning behind this photo. Dr. Jim Grotta, the pioneer behind the first mobile unit in US and a true legend in stroke care leading back to the original tPA trial. In this photo he is here with our truck, the most humbling experience a true attestation of stroke care transcending decades.”
