Starting this week on a high-energy note having just wrapped a week in Rio de Janeiro, in the incredible company and atmosphere of AIJA - International Association of Young Lawyers. I was invited to the annual congress to share insights from building a community for women and allies championing greater diversity in technology and policymaking at TBI, drawing parallels to the challenges and changes seen in the legal tech alongside three fabulous leaders: Renata B. Souto Maior Baião, Fernanda Souto Pacheco and Paola Fudakowska. We ended on an optimistic note (as per smiles!) but with firm conclusions: 💬 conversations spark change: let’s continue them, focused on solutions, not being afraid of taking responsibility as a leader, organisation, or community member to act 💥community is central to sustaining the inclusion movement and creating spaces to discuss solutions. Join one (welcome to ours: https://lnkd.in/ek-6xPRd), build one, and do bring others along with you 🚧 whilst we have things to celebrate in representation and access around the world, tech doesn't wait - the urgency to invest in, and promote, diversity in tech from education through to hiring and retaining is a constant as we witness rapid developments. More broadly, I am super passionate about careers and sector cross-pollination as so many jobs today revolve around tech. Stepping outside your bubble (often into another bubble) is a guaranteed boost of inspiration to fire up those engines - hearing lawyers discuss AI-driven advocacy, the end of cash, net zero in transport & logistics or neurotech confirms that tech has blurred professions boundaries with most of us working out the why, what and how. So let's not drop the ball on the *who* either. Keen to continue this conversation online and offline, and huge thanks to Paola Fudakowska and AIJA OC for an unforgettable week 💛💚💙

Amazed to see this formulated so we'll. We have been on this path (a random search) with Token Engineering Commons, #TEEthics group, and also with the #InvisibleEconomy of DADA. And I am so much looking forward to enable this at scale #UnitedValueChains
Radicle Civics - more interesting stuff from Dark Matter Labs https://radiclecivics.cc/ Radicle Civics aims to explore alternative approaches for organising the future, focusing on pathways which encourage distributed agency and participation from a super-diverse public to challenge concentrations of power and responsibility. We’re extending an invitation to experiment, and partake in conversations which question and reimagine the assumptions underpinning accounting, money formation, agreements, registries, identity systems, laws or institutions; to collaborate on propositional and positive visions for the future. As we seek to nurture the emerging shoots and infrastructural roots of our future societies, expanding the horizon of both the possible and necessary, many of the perceived boundaries we face are top-down, imaginary, or artificial constructs. We exist in an unbounded world inhabited by diverse autonomous agents, be they humans, future humans and non-humans – trees, rivers, mountains. This future invites us all to unconstitute and reconstitute society – building a new practice of civic infrastructures that embrace emerging possibilities, recognise our interdependence and enable all beings to thrive in a safe and just space.

What will happen to our digital afterlives? We're thrilled to be a part of The Conference by Media Evolution in Malmö, a two-day event that delves into the fascinating crossroads of media, technology, and culture. At the conference, Dr. Carl Ohman, assistant professor at the Department of Government at Uppsala University, sparked a thought-provoking conversation around the ethical dimensions of our digital afterlives. With projections hinting at a staggering 4.9 billion deceased Facebook users by the turn of the century, questions surrounding posthumous data rights take center stage. The bottom line is that the dead have no data rights, however, beyond the immediate concerns lie broader inquiries of what happens with the past generation’s digital heritage! As George Orwell eloquently stated, "Who Controls the Past Controls the Future." At ANE, we are uniquely poised to reflect on the role of engineers and STEM professionals in this context. - How can engineers contribute to defining the trajectory of our digital legacies? - What ethical frameworks should guide the custodianship of these invaluable digital inheritances? - In the face of a tech giant stumbling or facing financial challenges, what safeguards exist and can STEM experts play a role in safeguarding these repositories of knowledge and memories? We believe that engineers and STEM professionals hold the key to shaping a future where the delicate balance between innovation and ethical responsibility ensures the preservation of our collective digital heritage. #ListenToEngineers #DigitalEthics #TechnologyFuture #TheConference IDA Pia Kirkeskov Svendsen Sveriges Ingenjörer [Engineers of Sweden] Åsa Söderén NITO - Norges Ingeniør- og Teknologorganisasjon Kristian Hansen Tekniikan akateemiset TEK Merina Salminen Insinööriliitto | Union of Professional Engineers in Finland Janne Luotola Sigrun Hafstein Verkfræðingafélag Íslands

„David Mache posed an interesting question. He was being purposely provocative.“ I guess the journalist in me came out again at our conference with IPREX Global Communication in Cork. The „provocative“ question to Andrei Mylroie was how woke corporate and brand communication has to be today in order to be heard. Andrei's impulse on the topic of equity centered communications and our subsequent discussion made three things clear to me: 1. Communication with social added value does not contribute to polarization, but rather involves as many stakeholders as possible and bridges divides. That's why it also takes a reflective approach to politically charged terms like wokeness. 2. It focuses on the perspective of those who should be at the center of equitiy centered communications: the disadvantaged. It is about them - and not about the backward-looking people who dismiss every DE&l initiative with the bogus argument that there are more important problems. 3. It must be honestly meant and implemented with conviction. The interests of disadvantaged groups are too serious to be given a temporary hearing because it is the latest trend. #communications #dei #pr #network

💡 This article by Dark Matter Labs entitled "Radicle Civics — Building Proofs of Possibilities for a Civic Economy and Society" is a very interesting one to learn and reflect about infrastructure, society and interconnectedness. As they write, "What we need is to reconceptualise ourselves as inalienably interconnected and relational beings, as a knot of flows. We need a relational worldview that sees our lives, our cities, our societies, as complex organisms comprising socio-ecological systems and webs of relationships. We need to redesign our infrastructures so that they centre this complex entanglement and enable all beings — be they humans, future humans, and more-than-humans — to individually and collectively thrive." 📙 Read this article right here: https://bit.ly/3QMzpaV 👉 Don't forget to follow us right here: bit.ly/sicopenhagenhub
