The Internet of Things (IoT) was once perceived to be a vast network of sensors. As it turns out, many of those sensors will be cameras. By the end of 2023, 16.7 billion connected IoT devices were projected. That's expected to grow to 29 billion by 2027! The camera is rapidly becoming the “everything tool” in our industry—moving beyond its early capacity as a recording device and now creating the opportunity for exponential value. Sology can help your business use IoT to improve outcomes and drive business forward. Contact us for a free assessment today.

Architecture of Internet of Things (IoT) The architecture of the Internet of Things (IoT) typically involves three layers: the perception layer, the network layer, and the application layer. 1. **Perception Layer**: This layer consists of sensors, actuators, and other devices that collect data from the physical world. These devices may include temperature sensors, motion detectors, cameras, and more. They gather information about the environment or specific objects and transmit it to the next layer for processing. 2. **Network Layer**: In this layer, the collected data is transmitted to the cloud or a centralized server for further processing and analysis. This layer includes various networking technologies such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, and cellular networks. It ensures reliable communication between devices and the cloud infrastructure. 3. **Application Layer**: At the top layer, applications and services leverage the data collected from the perception layer to provide value-added services or control connected devices. This layer includes various software applications, analytics tools, and platforms that process the data, extract insights, and enable users to interact with IoT devices. Additionally, there may be intermediate layers for data processing, storage, and security between the network and application layers to handle the large volume of data generated by IoT devices and ensure data privacy and integrity. Overall, the architecture of IoT systems is designed to enable seamless connectivity, data exchange, and interoperability between diverse devices and applications.
