🌱 Today marks a great moment in our collective journey toward a sustainable future, as 28 partners from 12 countries converge in Brussels on January 15-17 for the kickoff meeting of #SOILLStartup! 🚀 #SOILL Startup launches the entire support structure to coordinate, support, expand and promote the network of a 100 #soilhealth Living labs and Lighthouses 🌿 🌏 In an era where the call for environmental action is imperative, we recognise the urgency to protect soil health. European soils play a crucial role in sustaining our food production, providing essential ecosystem services like clean water, carbon capture, and thriving habitats for biodiversity. Yet, an alarming 60% of European soils are deemed "unhealthy." Together, we are eager to contribute to securing healthy soils and a sustainable future for the generations to come. 🌳 ✨ Stay tuned https://www.soill2030.eu/ #MissionSoil #healthysoil #SoilDealMission #DGAgri #EITHouse ENoLL (European Network of Living Labs), Climate-KIC, ERRIN, Trust-IT Services, LGI, European Food Information Council (EUFIC), Aarhus University, CIHEAM Bari, ÖMKi - Hungarian Research Institute of Organic Agriculture, ILVO Living Lab Agrifood Technology, European Landowners' Organization, IFOAM Organics Europe, European Environmental Bureau, European Forest Institute, Water Europe, ACR | Association of Cities and Regions for sustainable Resource management, Research Institute of Organic Agriculture FiBL, Forschungsinstitut für biologischen Landbau FiBL, BioSense Institute, Krakowski Park Technologiczny | Krakow Technology Park, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), Deltares, CREA Ricerca, AIR Institute, Lancaster University, Cranfield University NATI00NS, PREPSOIL - Preparing for the "Soil Deal for Europe" Mission, NOVASOIL project, European Commission

At Aquatiq, we are always looking for innovative ways to reduce the environmental footprint, and our latest initiative with Mowi is a testament to this commitment 🌱 We are thrilled to announce that Mowi is now testing biodegradable hydraulic oil in boat cranes used at Mowi's Tennøya site, an initiative supplied and monitored by Aquatiq. This move is part of their ongoing efforts to reduce environmental risks and align with the goals for food safety, sustainable practices, and the safe operation of equipment. The cranes, which are crucial tools at the aquaculture sites, contain between 200 and 400 liters of oil, making this a significant step towards sustainability. Preben Arnesen, Operations Manager at Mowi Tennøya, highlighted the environmental benefits of this shift, underscoring how critical these cranes are in day-to-day operations. Alongside improved environmental impacts, this innovative oil enhances workplace safety, according to Mowi's Technical Coordinator, Bjørn Johan Dragsnes. This makes it not only good for the planet but also great for their team's health and safety 🦺 In collaboration with Eidsvaag Kran og Transportservice AS, who have successfully used this oil in their operations, we are proving that switching to biodegradable oil is not only possible but highly effective. The managing director of Eidsvaag Kran og Transportservice notes, "Using this oil on our equipment has shown great results. Making the switch to biodegradable options is one of the simplest yet impactful steps we can take towards sustainability.” Join us in celebrating this milestone and help us promote a more sustainable future in aquaculture and beyond! 🐟 Let's continue making strides in sustainability together! 🌍 Read more about this project here: https://lnkd.in/dgqjvkrw https://lnkd.in/dZfNk6Cz iLaks.no #Sustainability #Innovation #Aquaculture

Last Saturday marked #InternationalZeroWasteDay 🌍 (30 March), prompting us to reflect on our planet's health as we returned from the Easter break. We must address unsustainable production and consumption practices in food production, especially now as we strive for a more sustainable future ♻️ Let's emphasize the importance of improving waste management and resource use efficiency, paving the way for a more sustainable future. Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (#RAS) offer a promising pathway towards a circular model of seafood production. Despite the challenges ahead, these systems hold the potential for near-zero waste production. In the TETRAS project, we're tackling this challenge head-on: 🌊 Pilot 1 focuses on testing top-notch technologies to treat discharged water from RAS facilities, converting it into technical water for other industries, thus boosting water efficiency and promoting circularity in land-based aquaculture. 🦐 Pilot 2 delves into the symbiotic relationship between geothermal resources and RAS, aiming to harness geothermal energy for heating and mineralizing marine-brackish RAS, ultimately reducing operating costs and enhancing resource use efficiency. 💧 Pilot 3 explores optimal resource utilization (water, energy) at the Estonian Industrial Symbiosis Agropark (EISAP), designing a commercial RAS farm integrated with greenhouses, industries, and offices to optimize water use and management. 🐟 Pilot 4 integrates a small-scale RAS with plant cultivation to elevate awareness and understanding of the nutrient cycle in aquaculture, fostering knowledge exchange and environmental stewardship. One process’ waste or residual is another process’s resource Learn more about our project here: https://lnkd.in/eCM6GEF5 Read more about the International Day of Zero Waste here: https://lnkd.in/gi8tuenZ #LandAquaculture #SmartWaterSolutions #MadewithInterreg #SustainableAquaculture #IndustrialSymbiosis Klaipeda Science and Technology Park Klaipeda University Per Dolmer Business Lolland-Falster SUBMARINER Network for Blue Growth EEIG IVIA - Ida-Viru Investment Agency Akola Group Guldborgsund Kommune University of Gdansk Hochschule Wismar

More news from us, we have assigned leading greenhouse experts KUBO Greenhouse Projects as preferred partner in building up to 200 hectares of greenhouses primarily in Scandinavia. We believe that Scandinavia has the potential to become a significant market for vegetable production in greenhouses. Or as our CEO Jacques Ejlerskov puts it in the press release: “We have great confidence in teaming up with KUBO as an important technology partner to exploit all the possibilities in making Scandinavia a hub for vegetable production in Europe. In the coming years, there are a number of large scale industrial projects that we are looking into developing greenhouse projects with, using waste heat. We strongly believe that Sweden and Scandinavia has the potential to greatly increase its self sufficiency of vegetables and possibly even become net-exporting countries”.
