We are really proud at Alexander Ash Consulting to be going into 2024 having just been awarded a gold medal by EcoVadis for sustainability. With a score of 70/100 we stand in the top 5% of companies within our sector with the assessment covering various aspects of our business including sustainability, environment, labour & human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. Using data sourced from Orbis and the sustainability report of Inalca, I have developed a comprehensive performance evaluation system for the company, utilizing the Balanced Scorecard approach. This method not only assesses Inalca's overall performance but also places particular emphasis on the environmental, social, and economic impacts of its operations. The Balanced Scorecard framework enables a balanced evaluation across multiple dimensions, ensuring that Inalca's strategic goals align with sustainable practices and responsible business conduct. By integrating data from these sources, this evaluation provides a holistic view of the company's performance, highlighting areas of strength and opportunities for improvement in sustainability efforts.

Such an interesting event yesterday morning hosted by Grant Thornton Ireland and Tech Industry Alliance in Cork. The panel, expertly hosted by Brian O’ Donoghue, included Aine Keogh Caroline Kennedy and Donal Daly who are all very passionate about their roles - I've never heard so many references to the new Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) as being 'exciting' and 'exhilarating'! While the CSRD is undoubtedly going to challenge businesses that fall within scope (and their suppliers) to do a very deep dive in order to research and respond to the hundreds of data points required, the panel all spoke, above all, about the opportunity that this presents. Some words of wisdom I took from the event: - Where there's disclosure on sustainability, there's an opportunity for leadership - Fundamentally, the regulations will encourage companies to improve their sustainability performance, as it will be very easy for investors to benchmark them against peers using the exact same data points - Start the journey by setting your baselines - Implementing sustainable procurement practices is an excellent way to understand and improve your supply chain standards - Companies can decide what is 'material' for their business, but a 'double materiality' perspective is key - you must look at your impact on the environment, as well as just assessing the risks to your business that are associated with global environmental challenges - AI can help to you to sort and report the sustainability data that is most relevant to your business Well done to all involved in the event! #sustainability #CSRD #reporting #ESG

We recently appointed our new Head of Sustainability, Lucy Pope, who is passionately driving our sustainability initiatives forward.
