I am thrilled to share that I am officially admitted to Doctor of Philosophy in Business (Management) at the University of Technology Sydney, Australia. I received two ‘ones’ from my external examiners – a hugely encouraging result. Big thanks to my wonderful supervisors at UTS: Professors Jenny Onyx, Simon Darcy and Paul Ashton. For those who want to know a bit more, here's brief abstract: 'Re-imagining the research article: Participation, dialogue and the radical potential of an "ecology of knowledges"' is an exploration of the empirical research article as a potential site for the articulation of knowledge plurality. Using a critical social-semiotic approach and extensive genre analysis, I reveal how the genre conventions of the research article both enable and impede participation of diverse ways of knowing and being in the scholarly literature. Drawing on a conceptual lens of an ‘ecology of knowledges’, I also undertake an exploratory comparative case study of a collaborative museum exhibition with First Nation communities. In finishing, I propose some alternative social-semiotic signposts for radical co-presence in research writing.
