In certain regions of Senegal where the population is constantly growing, the existing health infrastructure can no longer guarantee the population's care. 2 projects were launched to provide a high-quality infrastructure and equipment under international standards: a new hospital built in the department of Tivaouane and the reconstruction of the Aristide Le Dantec university hospital in Dakar. For both projects, we acted as Agent, Mandated Lead Arranger and Sole Lender to finance the (re)construction. Read the full story here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eBE6FRnG

Transport ministers from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and the DRC convened to accelerate the completion of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) from Naivasha, Kenya, to neighboring countries. Their meeting in Mombasa focused on developing a roadmap for the SGR's swift implementation and joint mobilization of resources for its extension across borders. The ministers affirmed their commitment to enhancing regional connectivity by extending the SGR to Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan, and the DRC. They discussed the possibility of Rwanda joining the existing working framework between Uganda and the contractor Yapi Merkezi to update the feasibility study for the Mirama Hills-Kigali section. This collaboration aims to ensure harmonization of specifications and streamline project execution. Furthermore, the meeting aimed to harmonize planning and development of inland water transport infrastructure, facilitating seamless multimodal transport services. They emphasized the importance of reviewing the Tripartite Agreement on water transport on Lake Victoria to enhance connectivity and trade within the region. Kenya and Uganda committed to advancing the construction of the Naivasha-Kisumu-Malaba line and fulfilling their respective obligations to meet project deadlines. The ministers also resolved to establish a framework for cross-border maintenance of SGR assets and facilities, promoting sustainable infrastructure development and regional integration. #SGR #TransportInfrastructure #InfrastructureDevelopment #RegionalIntegration #InlandWaterTransport #MultimodalTransport #RegionalConnectivity #InfrastructureDevelopment #hakunamatatamedia

The ongoing construction of the Bagamoyo–Tanga-Horohoro/Lunga Lunga-Malindi Road, a cross-border project connecting Kenya and Tanzania commissioned under the East African Community last year, has surpassed the 35% completion mark. Financed by the African Development Bank (AfDB), African Development Fund (ADF), European Union (EU), and the Government of Kenya, the road spans approximately 54 kilometers within Kenya and is expected to be fully completed by 2024. With a total length of 454 kilometers, the road project, costing Ksh7.5 billion ($50 million) on the Kenyan side, aims to enhance road transport services between Kenya and Tanzania by reducing travel time, vehicle operating costs, and alleviating traffic congestion. Sections of the road between Tanga in Tanzania and Lunga Lunga in Kenya were reported to be nearly finished and partially in use, according to a recent joint meeting of the High Level Standing Committee on the East African Trade and Transport Facilitation Project and a Regional Technical Committee on the East Africa Road Network Project in Mombasa. Godfrey Enzama, the Principal Civil Engineer representing the Deputy Secretary General responsible for Infrastructure of the EAC Secretariat, emphasized that the project is being executed in phases due to its substantial size, the need for review of studies for certain sections, and the substantial investment required. #development #infrastructure #hakunamatatamedia Story: https://lnkd.in/dzV7dhcq

Rwanda and Kenya have signed a protocol to ensure smooth transport in their respective regions. New infrastructure investments on new transport are planned in the region. The most important thing here is who will finance these infrastructure projects. ■ But we can definitely look forward to a Sino-Russian struggle. #Sarenolia #Colonialism #ConstructionPolicies #GlobalConstructionPolicies

Dear Fellow South African, While many parts of the country continue to experience poor delivery of basic services, South Africa has a good core network of public infrastructure that is improving the lives of our citizens. Our country consistently ranks highly on indices published by the African Development Bank that evaluate the status of transportation, electricity, ICT and water and sanitation infrastructure. South Africa ranks in the top five countries in Africa with the best public infrastructure. This is important because infrastructure development plays a key role in ensuring fast economic growth and alleviating poverty. However for this world-class infrastructure to continue to support our developmental goals, it has to be properly, effectively and efficiently maintained. And decisions on infrastructure investment have to respond to the growing need and upgraded appropriately. Read in full here: https://lnkd.in/dwCTs3xe
