Check out the 'State of the Digital Agriculture Sector: Harnessing the Potential of Digital for Impact Across Agricultural Value Chains in Low- and Middle-Income Countries' Report. It offers a unique and important view of historical and future growth for the D4Ag sector, including a quantitative assessment of its potential to deliver economic, environmental, and social returns for agriculture sectors across low- and middle-income countries. Here are some impactful findings from the report: - Nearly 1,400 active D4Ag solutions were identified across Latin America, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa - nearly 50% of which were founded in the last 5 years. - An estimated $450B per annum hangs in the balance between "thriving" and "derailing" futures for D4Ag ecosystems in LMICs. - Inclusive development of the D4Ag ecosystem could translate to the drawing of 64 million female users into D4Ag solutions, closing the gender gap by half. - Climate-smart D4Ag deployment could directly reduce global greenhouse gas emissions in agricultural value chains by 9%. With 115 stakeholder-specific recommendations, the report explores how the agricultural sector's transformation through digital innovation is a promising journey towards a more sustainable and inclusive future. Download the report here: https://lnkd.in/gJHNYccQ The report was completed by Beanstalk AgTech, sponsored by USAID in partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) via Digital Frontiers.

🚜 Building Foundations for Digital Agriculture in LMICs! 🌐 Digital innovation, and the impact it generates, doesn't take place in a vacuum. Digitalization for Agriculture (D4Ag) ecosystems in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) require sound and maturing foundations as discussed in the recently launched 'State of the Digital Agriculture Sector: Harnessing the Potential of Digital for Impact Across Agricultural Value Chains in Low- and Middle-Income Countries' report. 🌍 Just a few of the opportunities for growth we touch on in the report: ~ Decentralization: only 10 markets represent the source of 67% of active D4Ag solutions in LMICs. ~ Talent development: >30% of innovators surveyed called out fit-for-purpose skills as a principal concern for the D4Ag sector. ~ Investment: estimated investment gap in R&D for sustainable ag systems is >$10B annually, touching on enterprise development, infrastructure, and capability-building. 🌱 What's the difference between "thriving" and "derailing" in the D4Ag sector? ~ A conservative estimate of ~$450 billion in value addition in LMICs annually by 2033 ~ The equivalent of ~12% of greenhouse gas emissions (CO2-equivalent) from agricultural production ~ Meaningful use of D4Ag solutions by an incremental ~65M women 🌟 Let's work together to create a thriving digital agriculture ecosystem that benefits farmers and promotes sustainability! 🌾Romanian Agriculture: Challenges and Solutions for a Sustainable Future 📚The first series of debates of the 24TRENDSFOR2024 Forum organized by DIGI24 and CONAF took place last week. The event included identifying issues, proposing solutions, and is followed by the initiation of legislative initiatives aimed to support Romanian society on its path towards development in the five debated fields: 🔋ENERGY 🌾AGRICULTURE 🏥HEALTH ♻️CIRCULAR ECONOMY 💰 FINANCING Romania is the fifth agricultural power in the European Union, yet 1️⃣ din 1️⃣ 0️⃣ children still does not have enough food and goes to bed hungry. Processing materials, investing in irrigation infrastructure, and implementing educational and training programs for farmers about new agricultural technologies were just a few of the issues raised during the debate on Tuesday, May 28. One of the major challenges for Romanian agriculture is also the use of European funds. Transforming numbers into well-being and statistics into real conditions is a path that sustainable development must follow, that of predictability. A discussion full of problems and challenges. However, in the end, the debate facilitated the identification of concrete solutions that will contribute to sustainable and high-performing agriculture in Romania, and it was established that a working group with all key stakeholders in the field will be created to improve the strategy and outlook. 🎙️The Forum will host two more series of debates around the importance of sustainable development of fundamental cores in the months of September and November. We will bring together again representatives of public authorities, multinational companies, entrepreneurs, and the interested public who will have the opportunity to participate in the most extensive project broadcasted on a large scale, initiated for the first time by a non-governmental organization together with a media channel with European coverage. #Romania #24trendsfor2024 #DIGI24 #CONAF

💫 Synergy between scientists and agribusinesses holds immense potential for transforming African agriculture. But the absence of standards for impact measurement highlights the need to develop and strengthen capacities for private sector actors to articulate and report contributions to climate change adaptation and climate-smart agriculture. 🌍 Technical support provided by AICCRA partnerships through our accelerator programs in #Zambia, #Senegal and elsewhere has equipped small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the agribusiness sector with the skills necessary to identify, prioritize, and track CSA activities, integrating them into their business models, and allowing them to assess financial viability, and impacts on end-users, especially farmers.
