⭐ Meet our lead researcher (Racing for MNDi), Dr Ianthe Pitout, who has been awarded a significant grant, the “Peter Stearne Familial MND Research Grant”, to propel MND research to the next stage! 🚀 Thanks to this grant, critical investigation can continue to demonstrate the assumption of preventing neuro degeneration, and extending life. This crucial work entitled “Developing a New Drug Candidate for C9orf72 linked MND” is being undertaken at Murdoch University under the care of Dr Pitout, and is important for proving its long-term effectiveness. 🔬 Three generations of my family have been impacted by C9orf72 over nearly four decades, so I deeply understand the urgency of finding an effective treatment as soon as possible. These grants offer an opportunity to bring us closer to life-changing breakthroughs, giving hope to people living with MND and their families—and to those who are pre-symptomatic gene carriers. Every step forward brings us closer to giving them the precious gift of more time.
