The release of the Phase 2 'Final Grenfell Tower Inquiry Report' this morning, alongside the 45 minute live press conference with members of the inquiry panel, led by Sir Martin Moore-Bick was a powerful and emotive point-in-time, 7 years in the making. Equally as powerful and much more heart-felt was the Grenfell United community groups news conference that followed, which sent a clear and direct message to the Government to not only implement all of the recommendations presented, but to also continue to enforce and deliver change across the construction industry. The final Report, across 7 volumes, 14 sections and over 1700 pages, including the 52 page overview/summary is going to take a while to digest, reflect, review and comment on, but we all owe it to those 54 Adults and 18 Children that sadly perished, and to their bereaved families and friends, to read every page, and to learn from these findings, to ensure this 'chain of failures' can never happen again. The full and final report can be downloaded here: https://lnkd.in/eBvmu38B #FireDNA #PassiveFireProtection #FireProtection #FireDoors #FireSafety #FireDoorsets #FireDoorCompliance #FireDoorMaintenance #FireDoorLegislation #GoldenThread #RegulatoryReformOrder #ResponsiblePersons #DutyHolders #Regulation10 #FireCertification #InstallationCompetency #Collaboration #GrenfellUnited

Want to know something surprising? Cleaning up and greening up a neighborhood and urban area can reduce crime. There are tons of studies on this topic, and they're not 100% sure why, but the fact of the matter is that a clean, tidy and welcoming space helps make an area safer. Maybe it's because when we clean up our shared spaces – whether it’s the sidewalks in your cul-de-sac or the playground on your block – we’re not just removing dirt; we’re creating an environment that fosters pride and connection. So, A tidy, well-maintained neighborhood can deter crime but it also boosts property values and make everyone feel more at home. Let’s roll up our sleeves and get to work making our community shine. When our neighborhood looks good, we all feel good. There’s something special about walking down a clean, sparkling sidewalk and knowing that we’re all taking care of our corner of the world together. 🏡✨

So a lil history lesson… The majority of South Dallas was built on non arable flood plains that makes many of the neighborhoods susceptible to flash floods and storms. Many of the streets have large storm drains situated directly behind a lot of peoples homes. This was done by design. There’s no mystery as to why Black and Brown people were forced to live in the worst areas of Dallas geographically. It’s also why large swaths of land are zoned for industrial purposes while being situated directly next to residential homes. When we speak of Environmental injustice, we are speaking of the literal structure of our communities. Malicious city planning, violent racist mobs, and predatory businesses all took part in creating unsustainable environments where non white families live. This is why we fight. Clean the Block was never about picking up trash. This program is about highlighting the blatant discrimination these communities have suffered for literally 100s of years. Join us in finishing this fight. Join SERUN!! Connect with SiSi Encarnacion y’all!! P.S. shouts out to Water Utilities for responding so quickly to our calls. That’s pretty dope of yall. #climateaction #environmentaljustice #environmentdesign #urbanplanning #dallas #southdallas #community #powertothepeople
