We always mention that the aviation security rules are written by blood. But, what does Aviation security do? Aviation security encompasses the comprehensive measures and protocols implemented to safeguard the safety and integrity of air travel. It involves the protection of passengers, crew, aircraft, and airport facilities from potential threats such as terrorism, unlawful interference, and other security risks. The field of aviation security encompasses a wide range of practices, including passenger and baggage screening, cargo security, access control, and the implementation of advanced technologies to detect and mitigate security threats. Additionally, aviation security extends to the protection of critical aviation infrastructure and the development of robust security frameworks to ensure the resilience of the aviation sector in the face of evolving security challenges. Aviation Security (annex 17) is one of the most essential parts of business at the Airport. In the implementation of supervision, one helpful method is the Critical Element. This was adopted from the ICAO method of supervising. This critical element is a barrier to prevent risks. Using this method, we developed each clause in the national regulations into an audit checklist.

Why the Aviation Security job is becoming more demanding? The aviation industry is facing a multitude of challenges, including geopolitical risks, terror attacks, smuggling, and people trafficking. These challenges are constantly evolving, and the industry must adapt to ever-changing regulations and security threats. The importance of incident management, collaboration, and security assurance cannot be overstated. While strengthened security is always an asset, it can also improve operational efficiencies within an organization, enhance customer satisfaction, and improve the relationship between airports, airlines, and aviation authorities.
