In an interview with Bloomberg, GIC Deputy Group Chief Investment Officer and Director of the Integrated Strategies Group, Bryan Yeo, and Head of Japan, Real Estate, Ken Sugimoto, shared more about GIC's approach to investing in Japan. Bryan shared that GIC has been seeing interesting bottom-up opportunities in Japan across asset classes including real estate, private equity, and public equities. He added that GIC has a team of over 40 professionals, in both Singapore and Japan, who are actively sourcing for new opportunities. The teams will also continue to partner closely with leading Japan companies to create ‘win-win’ solutions. On real estate, Ken elaborated that the Japan market is deep, liquid, and transparent, making it ideal for GIC to invest in over the long term and across market cycles. As the investment environment becomes increasingly complex, GIC will continue to play to its strengths as a global, long-term, and diversified investor. Southeast Asia is considered one of the top investment destinations by institutional investors, presenting the best opportunities for investments across the private capital space, according to Preqin’s latest Investor Outlook survey.
