Bryan J. Carey and Benevis those are staggering and (quite frankly) heartbreaking statistics. This underscores the network adequacy and access issues plaguing state Medicaid agencies and managed care entities across the country. While there remains a lot of banter about oral health equity, until stakeholders and “experts” start addressing the administrative burden, archaic policies limiting cost effective innovative delivery models & treatment methods (think minimally invasive approaches), shift focus towards prevention and establish reasonable reimbursement methodology, these stats (and access challenges) will likely continue to get worse. Huge kudos to the entire Benevis team and its clinicians who are working to be part of the solution! Your work and impact on vulnerable populations inspires all of us at Smile America Partners.

Benevis is proud to be among the small group of dental providers, just 18%, who choose to manage a #Medicaid population that includes more than 100 child visits annually. We proudly serve over 500,000 children, 82% of whom are on #Medicaid or CHIP plans. That is a scary statistic. I recently saw a clip on Canadian health and the significant increase of Canadian Physicians leaving public health and moving to privatized models for the exact same reasons…… administrative burden & reimbursements …..leaving many communities without care. The effects of both situations are going to be seen for decades to come.
