We could tell you about Hassaan, but we thought why not let him tell you himself? ❓ Hassaan, what exactly does being a Vice President Activities mean? 'As the Vice President of Activities, I'm basically the campus's social butterfly and fun instigator. I whip up a storm of events that range from heart-pounding sports showdowns to hilarious themed parties, all aimed at making sure every student gets a healthy dose of playtime alongside their studies. Think of me as the mastermind behind the scenes, weaving friendships, laughter, and unforgettable memories into the very fabric of campus life.' ❓ What made you want to run to be a sabbatical officer? 'My decision to run for the role of sabbatical officer was fueled by practical considerations. With involvement in three society committees, I encountered a series of minor yet persistent challenges that hindered our event initiatives. My candidacy aims to address these issues and cultivate a campus environment primed for social engagement and enjoyable activities. By rectifying these obstacles, I aspire to contribute to a more cohesive and vibrant campus community, brimming with opportunities for meaningful interaction and shared enjoyment.' ❓ What’s one piece of advice you’d give a new Westminster student? 'Here's the scoop: join a club or sports team pronto and rock the "hello" game. Thursday was the #Christmas #barbecue for our students in Academic Preparation and Pathways. Those of you in education will no doubt have attended similar events for your students, and some of you may even have donned hats to rival those of our team at the barbecue. It was a bright, sunny day, to the extent that those of us without Santa hats had to step into the shade periodically to avoid the UV overhead. Perhaps it was that rhythm of standing back and watching that got me thinking about what was special about the event. It was special because everyone was there in person. That's not to say that we don't do hybrid learning and hybrid events well; we do. Indeed, remote learning for offshore students was what enabled our team to continue during COVID times, keeping the thread taut for students who, despite closed borders, continued to aspire to enter an academic programme at Lincoln University (NZ). But it was always intended that these students would return to campus one day, and now their successors have. It was special because being on campus means we can use the great student spaces developed for just these purposes. The barbecue, a fixture, did a great job (thanks to the staff cooks) with both meat and vegetarian fare alike. And it's the cross-barbecue rituals, the grilling, the queuing, the sausages-in-bread (and their substitutes), that express our commitment to our students and their on-campus experience. It was special because student spaces mean that others are implicitly welcome. Our colleagues from other teams were there, including some who walked by and were spontaneously invited to join. Lincoln University Students' Association representatives dropped by to see who was using the student spaces as intended. Later in the day we met with the international recruitment team who talked about their current initiatives, how they continue to build the relationships through which students enter our programmes. Finally, it was special because there have been many times since 2020 when it seemed that to have an comprehensive academic preparation and pathways programme within a New Zealand university might be a goal confined to the past. The return of students has never been about getting back what once we had; nor should it be, and its causes include many factors outside our control. It's taken a lot at every level to get us to this point: internal and external strategic planning, making the case and remaking the team, reimagining teaching and assessment to fit the rapidly cycling times. I'm proud of our students, proud of our team, proud of the colleagues whom we work alongside. Season's greetings to all.

Why Education? Should i go to collage or go get a skill? I have written various articles on how to support our Children/Wards to gain valuable insight and sound education. I have explained the curriculum, types and importance. Recently, we were talking about the learning needs and challenges, i have explained how to differentiate scholars so we can fully support them.
