"What if we could power everything we need with the energy we already have?" Dorina Döring posed this bold question at the Handelsblatt Conference in Frankfurt. Dorina and her team at Heatstorage Berlin aren’t just visionaries — they’re making it happen. Today, there are moments when we generate more renewable energy than we can use. Soon, this will be our everyday reality. But the real question, as Dorina puts it, is: "How can we distribute this energy so that everyone benefits?" With 20% of global carbon emissions coming from heat production (compared to just 2.8% from air travel), Heatstorage Berlin is tackling one of the biggest challenges of our time. In Germany, 75% of industrial energy is used for heat. Being able to store excess renewable energy and use it later is not just smart—it's revolutionary. So, how are they doing it? Heatstorage Berlin builds storage systems that take surplus electricity from renewables and convert it into heat for later use. "We use natural materials that have stood the test of time—well-known, sustainable, and fully circular," Dorina explains. 🌞 Green energy together with local communities: A Leap Towards Sustainable Living! 🌞   We are thrilled to announce the successful closure of a #PPA for of one of the largest solar parks in the Netherlands. Zonnepark Fledderbosch is a groundbreaking project that not only produces green energy on an area bigger than 125 football fields, but also directly benefits the local communities. This innovative solar park is more than just an energy project; it's a commitment to sustainability, community empowerment, and a cleaner future.   𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗼𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Our vision was clear from the start - to create an energy solution that the local population could directly benefit from. With this PPA, the solar park supplies renewable energy to 38,000 of homes, significantly reducing energy costs in this region and contributing to a substantial decrease of 56,000 tons of CO2 per annum. ProjectZero goes to Poland.     Last week, in the presence of His Majesty King Frederik X of Denmark, ProjectZero’s CEO Brian Seeberg signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Polish province of Lower Silesia to collaborate on projects focused on decarbonizing the district heating system of the Polish region.      Sønderborg launched ProjectZero in 2007 together with Danfoss’ main shareholder the Bitten & Mads Clausen Foundation and a handful of other public and private actors.     Danfoss contributes to ProjectZero by supplying energy efficient cooling and heating solutions, collaborating on electrification projects, and promoting sector integration where industry, energy production, transport, and others work together to reuse energy which has already been produced.     The International Energy Agency (IEA) named Sønderborg “the global capital of energy efficiency” in 2022. Back in October 2023, the World Economic Forum specified that ProjectZero’s approach to decarbonize can be used by all urban areas worldwide to “deliver on big, bold ambitions which might not otherwise be possible.”     In 2007, Sønderborg and its 75,000 inhabitants emitted roughly 700,000 tons of CO2. This amount is now less than half of that – thanks to ProjectZero’s focus on, firstly, applying energy-efficient solutions to reduce energy consumption. RABLE has been highlighted as Solar Magazine's "Project of the Week" for our joint project at Voedselbank Amsterdam. This marks the third recognition in recent months for our innovative approach to solar installations. Challenge: The roof at Voedselbank Amsterdam was unsuitable for traditional solar panels due to structural weight limitations. We addressed this challenge with lightweight solar panels from Solarge and our specialized understructure that distributes the load to the roof’s structural supports, installed by Groene-Woningen. Impact: This project not only helps Voedselbank Amsterdam reduce their energy costs but also significantly contributes to their sustainability goals. By overcoming architectural constraints, we are able to expand the possibilities for solar energy installations in similar structures facing similar challenges.
