Saw this on X which was pretty well done, clever use of AI and real fears in the digital media advertising space, a meme account called @digital_chadadvertising agencies need to find clever ways of differentiating themselves from each other and showing the client value. The speed in which technology and digital media is moving, agencies need to really be on their game come 2024. Smaller agencies can move just as quick for far less costs.

Key stat: Political ad spending will hit $12.32 billion this year, according to EMARKETER December 2023 forecast. That’s nearly three times what it was in 2016. Beyond the chart: Political ad spend will impact other segments of advertising as well, considering ad buys from political groups mean less inventory for everybody else. Political advertising is shifting toward digital, as noted in our US Political Ad Spending Forecast 2024 report. And 45.0% of digital political ad spend will go to connected TV this year. Forrester Research published a new report on the bad ads ecosystem. The purpose of the report is to callout the increased threat of bad digital advertisements in the wake of AI proliferation. When consumers are exposed to bad ads, it leads to growing mistrust of good ads or ad blocking altogether. Sites with growing inventories can cause bad ads to proliferate, with YouTube and Instagram video inventories being highlighted specifically. Bad actors typically operate in environments where CPMs are low. One way to help alleviate this proliferation is to establish a pricing floor that would prove too expensive for creators of bad ads.
