More than 40 years ago, Shell pioneered energy exploration and production in the US #GulfofMexico. We are building on this legacy by safely developing this heartland’s vast resources to provide a reliable and affordable supply of #energy for today and decades to come. Oil and gas leasing is critical for the US to continue to produce secure energy supplies. As part of today’s Gulf of Mexico #LeaseSale261, we are the apparent high bidder on 65 blocks totaling approximately $69 million. And we put opportunities like this to good use. We recently announced investments which underscore our long-term commitment and extend our position as the leading operator in the Gulf of Mexico where production has among the lowest greenhouse gas (GHG) intensity in the world for producing oil.* We reached a Final Investment Decision on the #Sparta Development in the Gulf of Mexico, the latest example of investing in competitive projects while improving the energy efficiency of our operations. Sparta is expected to reach approximately 90,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day when it achieves peak production. We also announced a Final Investment Decision to deliver three wells designed to boost production and continue to unlock greater value from our #Perdido asset also in the Gulf of Mexico. The US Gulf of Mexico is fundamental to Shell’s #PoweringProgress strategy as we support a balanced #energytransition to deliver more value with less emissions. Now is a fact, here it comes #suriname Suriname's offshore potential as European supermajors TotalEnergies and Shell, along with Malaysia's Petronas, secure new production-sharing contracts in the South American nation. #TotalEnergies and #Shell emerged victorious in the bidding process, with TotalEnergies gaining operational rights over Block 64, spanning 6262 square kilometers, located 250 kilometers from the shore, at water depths of approximately 1300 meters. #QatarEnergy and #Petronas will join TotalEnergies as strategic partners, holding stakes of 30% each. In a parallel success story, #Petronas secured blocks 63 and 64, covering 5425 square kilometers and situated 200 kilometers offshore at about 1700 meters. Petronas will operate Block 63 with a 100% participating interest, emphasizing the importance of these acquisitions in unlocking #Suriname's vast resource potential. These developments underscore the companies' commitment to Suriname's energy landscape and align with their strategies to explore low-cost, low-emission resources in core areas. TotalEnergies, already operating three licenses in Suriname, including Block 58, is advancing development studies for a large floating production, storage, and offloading vessel in the #Sapakara-#Krabdagu area. This is a key moment for this small country and the future. Petrobras has signed contracts for the P-84 and P-85 FPSO platforms with Seatrium O&G Americas Limited. With these contracts, Brazil's oil industry is set for remarkable growth and sustainability. The platforms will be constructed in Brazil, China, and Singapore, with local content targets of 20% for P-84 and 25% for P-85. Each FPSO will produce 225,000 barrels of oil and 10 million cubic meters of gas per day. Currently, Brazil produces 4 million barrels of oil per day. According to Petrobras’s strategic plan (2024-2028), the country could reach 8.5 million barrels per day. Brazil is currently the ninth largest oil producer. With existing investments, it aims to become the fourth largest, significantly enhancing Brazil's global energy presence. This groundbreaking move comes as AET sealed shipbuilding contracts with 𝐃𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐨. (𝐃𝐒𝐈𝐂), a subsidiary of 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐂𝐒𝐒𝐂). This morning took place an outstanding Dedicated Session on Offshore Exploration in Uruguay during the day 2 of the First #eage Conference on South Atlantic Offshore Energy Resources! Randolph (Randy) Hiscock from Challenger Ebergy showed the exploration history offshore Uruguay and how he has been involved in it for the last 17 years. Block Off-1 has a great potential, with Teru Teru and Anapero prospects potentially holding billion barrels. Hernán Maretto from YPF presented how the Argentinian company has been looking at E&P opportunities in Uruguay since 2007. Block Off-5 has approx 3 billion barrels of prospective resources. Casey Donohue from APA highlighted the analogies with the discoveries in Namibia and APA’s plans in Uruguay for the near future. He also highlighted that Uruguay has a transparent legal framework and a supportive business climate. Dina Blades from Shell explained the company’s journey in Namibia and how they can replicate this experience to Uruguay. She also mentioned how Shell is commited to net zero emissions, respecting nature and provide clean energy solutions. #CCS updates from France 🔵 ⚪ 🔴 The ECO2-Normandy consortium, which aims to develop Carbon Capture and transport infrastructure in the Normandy industrial basin, is welcoming HAROPA PORT to its ranks. Haropa Port will bring its experience and know-how in port and logistics activities to the consortium's project. ECO2-Normandy aims to reduce the basin's CO2 emissions by up to 3 million tons per year, equivalent to the emissions of more than 500,000 people. The ECO2-Normandy consortium seeks to implement a CO2 capture and transport chain from industrial activities for final storage in the North Sea. After confirming its technical feasibility in the first stage of the studies, the project has progressed to a new phase, which will see preparatory engineering studies carried out. This strategic project, which remains open to new members, will be able to call on European, French, and regional funding. Its current participants include ExxonMobil en France, Air Liquide, LAT Nitrogen, TotalEnergies and Yara International. "#SubseaIntegrationAlliance, comprising #OneSubsea and #Subsea7, has won a long-term strategic agreement with Norway’s state-owned energy giant #Equinor, paving the way for collaboration to begin immediately on early, joint concept studies for two giant oil projects." These are frontier projects: 1. Wisting: located over 300 km north of Hammerfest in the Barents Sea (Arctic). Final Investment Decision (#FID) was postponed in Q4 2022 due to cost estimate increases, amongst other factors. 2. Bay du Nord: located offshore Newfoundland & Labrador (off Canada's east coast) in the Flemish Pass basin, about 500 km northeast of St John's. The project was postponed in May 2023 due to cost pressure. "Thanks to the deal signed by #Equinor and #SubseaIntegrationAlliance in Stavanger work on the maturation of subsea scope will be able to start immediately at the #Wisting field offshore Norway and the #BayDuNord project located off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.
