Is Patrol Led DFR the next great public safety drone deployment method? What is Patrol Led DFR, and does it bust the dam on widespread DFR operations for any and every agency? Patrol Led DFR was only recently made possible and practical by the Skydio X10, with its advanced capabilities like Skydio Remote Flight Deck, the onboard AI and OA, and its 5G connectivity. It’s all enhanced with the Axon ecosystem and enabled with changes in regulations and operational protocols. In this live webcast (link below) Noreen Charlton, Vern Sallee and I briefly discuss the history and elements of current DFR and do a deeper dive into what Patrol Led DFR is, what it looks like in everyday public safety operations, what it will take to make it commonplace, and why it may be the best path to end-state DFR for most agencies. I’ll be curious about the questions and feedback on this very interesting, unique, and exciting public safety drone deployment method. https://lnkd.in/eWkyu3pN #publicsafety #firstresponders #dfr #patrolleddeployment #patrolleddfr #emergencyresponse Jordan Bischoff

This whitepaper on Remote ID, co-authored by Thomas Adams and me, provides security professionals with essential information on the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) remote identification (RID) requirement for drones. The RID rule, often likened to a 'digital license plate,' mandates drones to transmit identification, location, and performance data during flight. The compliance deadline for registered drone operations in the U.S. was initially set for September 16, 2023, but due to a shortage of RID broadcast modules, the enforcement date was extended to March 16, 2024. The paper covers the historical context, the RID rule requirements, exceptions, current status, and practical tips for law enforcement and security personnel to navigate the post-RID environment. Emphasizing that RID is just one component of airspace awareness, we stress the importance of a comprehensive approach to security, including traditional drone detection technologies. 🔹Drone🛸 Response - Purpose Built for First Responders🔹 BRINC, a leader in drone technology for first responders, has announced the launch of the Responder drone and Responder Station, marking a significant advancement in Drone as First Responder (DFR) operations. This new platform is designed to assist first responders in arriving at emergency scenes within 70 seconds, providing critical situational awareness and delivering life-saving medical supplies. BRINC’s integrated DFR solution addresses the growing need for efficient emergency response, particularly in light of police staffing shortages. The Responder system aims to handle approximately 25% of calls for service without requiring personnel dispatch. Blake Resnick, BRINC Founder & CEO, stated, “The launch of BRINC DFR marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of emergency response. Our DFR initiative is set to revolutionize the public safety landscape by empowering first responders with capabilities that significantly improve emergency response times and outcomes.” https://lnkd.in/en-w5Dga

Over the past year, I've had discussions with numerous departments eager to implement Drone as a First Responder (DFR). DFR represents a transformative approach in emergency response, empowering drones to provide the initial situational awareness to first responders. This advancement aids first responders in making informed decisions, providing a clearer context of the scene prior to their arrival, and ultimately enhancing community safety. A pivotal element in realizing the DFR vision is the integration of Patrol-Led Drone as First Responder programs. This initiative leverages patrol officers to expand the scope and effectiveness of drone operations. The key to the success of drones in emergency situations lies in their timely and strategic deployment. Patrol-Led DFR programs ensure that drones, are available at critical moments to maximize their impact. Skydio is at the forefront of this technological leap, offering innovative solutions such as the Skydio Remote Flight Deck. This feature enables remote drone operation over 5G networks, ensuring drones are optimally positioned even when the first officer on the scene isn't a trained pilot, so a trained pilot can log in to the drone remotely to support the situation. This capability keeps officers engaged in critical tasks while maintaining drone efficiency, creating a force multiplier. To delve deeper into how these objectives can be achieved through the right combination of hardware, software, and adherence to regulations, Skydio is hosting a webinar. 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM, Jan 17 CST This session will be led by: Fritz Reber Jakee Stoltz Aaron Begle Noreen Charlton #DFR #EmergencyResponse #Skydio #DroneTechnology

California is paving the way with a new approach to emergency drone response. Here's how..... Fremont, California, is making headlines as the first city in the U.S. to launch a Drone First Responder (DFR) program for both Fire and Police Departments. Approved on February 13th, this initiative underscores the city's commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology to protect and serve its community. By deploying Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) from strategic locations, Fremont's DFR program is designed to enhance emergency response effectiveness. These UAVs, operated by certified professionals, are tasked with providing immediate situational awareness through live video feeds, thus empowering on-the-ground response teams with real-time information. This capability is crucial for de-escalating potential threats, pinpointing hazards, and spotting rescue opportunities, thereby optimizing incident management. Following a successful pilot phase, the DFR program has garnered substantial community support, showcasing its ability to enhance public safety, reduce response times, and protect first responders. The forthcoming partnership with the Washington Hospital Healthcare System (WHHS) promises to further amplify the program's reach, with UAVs set to launch from the WHHS rooftop, thus broadening the operational scope within Fremont. Battalion Chief Jeff Kleven of the Fremont Fire Department hailed the DFR program as a potential lifesaver, praising Skyfire's vital role in its realization. "This program has the potential to save lives and make our community safer," Kleven stated, highlighting the significant impact of such innovative solutions on public safety. Fremont's adoption of the DFR program represents a significant milestone in the integration of technology into emergency response strategies, setting a formidable example for other municipalities aspiring to bolster their public safety infrastructure with innovative, tech-driven solutions! #drones #drone #technology #california #fremont #publicsafety #emergecyresponse
