"Ten years ago, if you Googled the term "skills-based volunteering," you might be one of roughly 100 people to do so globally in any given month. Today, it's 72 million. Needless to say, skills-based volunteering (SBV) is gaining momentum." By embracing skills-based volunteering, like those offered by Common Impact, as a strategic tool for social change, companies can strengthen their brand reputation, drive employee engagement, foster skill development, and make a lasting difference in their communities. Head of New Business Development driving market share growth at DCX LIQUID COOLING SYSTEMS. Professional Problem Solver.
Volunteering in my life is not just temporary help for others. Although it often associates with simple actions, such as street collections, it is actually much more complex and has a huge impact on both personal and professional development. For me personally, it's a path that allows me to acquire skills key in today's dynamically changing world. Project management, effective communication, teamwork, and the ability to quickly adapt to new situations - these are the competencies I have developed during my volunteer challenges. But that's not all. Volunteering opens the door to a world of diverse perspectives and experiences. Meeting people from different backgrounds and cultures enriches my understanding of the world and teaches empathy, which is invaluable both in personal and professional life. It is also an opportunity to make new contacts and build a support network that can bring unexpected benefits in the future. I encourage everyone to get involved in volunteering. Not only the kind needed for #CSR but authentic, far from the flashlights. It's not just an opportunity to give, but also to receive - developing skills, building a team, and broadening horizons. Do you remember when you last took on a volunteering challenge? What skills and experiences did you gain that have enriched your professional and personal life? #VolunteeringIsDevelopment #VolunteerLeader #ValueOfVolunteering #DevelopThroughHelping #VolunteeringInBusiness #ActTogether #PowerOfVolunteering #VolunteeringAsInspiration #SkillsThroughVolunteering

Trends like this one - highlighting deadness in corporate volunteerism or “empty” volunteering- are a product of identifiable factors like, in this case, COVID-19. All that is required to change them are strong, effective marketplace leaders who know their business will do better if they are willing to go deeper. The evidence is clear: Businesses attract, retain and develop employees better when they connect their workers and culture with deeper meaning than simply the bottom line. How will you lead against the tide to help your company become healthy and great? #csr #profitsandpurpose

"In post-COVID workplaces where engagement and connection are uniquely complex, we are at risk of backsliding into a type of volunteering that not only lacks value, but that affronts the very definition of impact." I'm worried I'm not going to make any friends with this one, but here we are. Take a look and let me know your thoughts! https://lnkd.in/e7x75Mqp

Let me share an insight with you on VOLUNTEERING Volunteering offers numerous benefits, both for the community and for the individual volunteer. It's a way to give back to society and make a positive impact on the lives of others, but it also provides personal rewards that can be incredibly fulfilling. Firstly, volunteering is an excellent way to contribute to the community. By offering your time and skills, you can support causes that matter to you and help those in need. Whether it's through environmental conservation, educational programs, or social services, your efforts can lead to meaningful change and improve the quality of life for many people. In addition to the societal benefits, volunteering also offers significant personal growth opportunities. It allows you to develop a range of skills that are valuable both in your personal and professional life. For example, through my volunteering experiences on various platforms, I have developed the following key skills: Leadership: Leading projects and teams in a volunteer setting has helped me build strong leadership capabilities. Managing volunteers, coordinating activities, and ensuring goals are met have all contributed to my leadership development. Communication: Volunteering often involves working with diverse groups of people, which has enhanced my ability to communicate effectively. Whether it's speaking to community members, coordinating with other volunteers, or presenting ideas to stakeholders, strong communication skills are essential. Teamwork: Many volunteer projects require collaboration with others. Working in teams has taught me how to work well with different personalities. Today, I have people in my life that I couldn't have met ordinarily but was possible being on a team together. The opportunities abound. Don't just sit tight. Let the world feel your warmth. Non-profit consultant specializing in volunteer engagement strategy | I help organizations build trust to create genuine buy-in and belonging
An article that explores meaningful and impactful corporate volunteering. #MustRead for all #LoVols and #CSR professionals who organize kit packing employee service days or have thought about kit packing initiatives (which is really all of us). What stood out for me: "The organization you’re working with almost always knows how to use your money more than it knows how to use your time – but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t volunteer with them... For example, RW is currently consulting with an organization that does not need additional volunteers, but companies love to volunteer with them. So, we’re helping the organization and their corporate partner have their cake and eat it too by transitioning their volunteer opportunities into Community Advocacy Programs. Employees will volunteer while learning how to become personal, civic, and corporate advocates for the cause – which all serve the reason the organization exists."
