Doing good work is only half the battle. It's not just about putting in the hours and ticking off tasks. The other half? ↳ How that work is seen and interpreted by everyone around you — your manager, colleagues, board members, shareholders, users, customers - you name it. Think of good work as the foundation. It's what gets us from point A to point B. But: 𝙝𝙤𝙬 others view your work is just as crucial. If your work isn’t framed and positioned correctly, your contributions may be undervalued. On the other hand, if you effectively communicate your efforts and showcase your accomplishments, you're more likely to earn recognition and appreciation. The key is finding the balance between hard work and perception. Here are a few tips to help you navigate this balance ⤵️ ✅ Build strong relationships based on trust and respect. ✅ Seek feedback and actively listen to others' perspectives. ✅ Be transparent about your goals, progress, and challenges. ✅ Advocate for yourself and your contributions when necessary. 💬 What are your thoughts on this post? Authentic self-promotion: Let your value shine. Many employees are passed by or completely overlooked simply because senior management doesn’t know how valuable they are — or because senior management doesn’t know these employees are looking for more responsibility. https://buff.ly/3tBQ1bL

Recruitment business mentor | Optimising structure and processes to drive business excellence through mentoring.
Theres an important lesson in this quote I find that owner managed businesses tend to be foreever grateful for what should be normal working practices from their consultants going above and beyond from time to time. Being indebted to someone clouds your judgement You compromise your standards It sets a precedent You overlook their flaws You promote them into incompetency I get it. You want to look after your team member Stress test the competency first Acknowledge over achievement If you do something outside the norm for one, be prepared to offer it to all. If not then dont do it. Is there loyalty and commitment in the work place nowadays? 🤔 #recruitmentmentor

“𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐝, 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮.” – Alex Hormozi I’ve been ardently following Alex's insights over on Youtube and his book ‘$100M Offers’. I love this line because it got me thinking really hard. 🎯 HERE’S MY BREAKDOWN OF IT: What determines someone’s value? It’s their overall skillset – hard skills, soft skills and how these can potentially leverage any area of a business one task at a time. If I get the work done and if I get the appreciation for it (which is quite normal), or how much compensation I can accrue - is when I get a fair idea of how valuable I am. But what if I not only did the work.. I was also operating with a mindset where I strove to push myself to improve my skillsets and make them better every single day (without anyone’s prodding)? It would not only result in a boost of my work performance but it would keep on increasing the value I eventually provide to the organization. In a scenario like that, regardless of appreciation, I perform by default. I am not dependent on another's viewing of me to fuel my performance. That's when my value through my own eyes starts taking shape. ----------------- What’s your thought on it?

Hey Bees! If you wanna know how to advocate for yourself in your next performance review, note this! Reflect on the specific goals you've set for yourself over the past four to twelve months. Ask yourself: How did I plan to measure my progress? What metrics or milestones did I use to gauge my success? 🎯 Understanding and articulating your achievements is key. Break down each goal, the strategies you implemented, and the outcomes. Were there increased sales numbers, improved efficiency, successful project completions? These concrete results are your advocacy tools. 📈 Also, consider the challenges you faced and how you overcame them. This shows resilience and adaptability – crucial traits for any professional. As you prepare for your review, compile this information. Remember, it's not just about what you've achieved; it's about how your work aligns with the company's objectives and your personal growth. 🌱 So, let's get ready to showcase your value confidently. It's your time to shine and set the stage for future opportunities and growth! #performancereview #careergrowth #selfadvocacy #professionalgoals #careerdevelopment #successmindset #BlackOnTheJob #EmpowerYourCareer

"VALUE ADDITION" Yesterday after work, I decided to check on my friend Brighton Chipokosa. when he picked my call, the first thing he said was "Are you done with adding value to yourself and your employer for the day?" . I took the question as rhetorical, after the call I reflected on it. After much thought, I came to a realization that we can only add value to ourselves as we add value to our roles. Day to day activities makes your skills proficient, in the long run you become an expert. The satisfaction that comes with a completing a task should be looked at as an indicator of value addition because the experience rating grows as you execute more tasks. completing tasks helps your organization meet its objects and helps you gain more confidence, its a win win situation.
