We’ve opened sign-ups for the November cohort of our Huddlecraft 101 training! This is 7 years of practice, experimentation and learning from across our community, bottled into 3 days’ of online training and spread over 5 weeks. Our approach to collective learning is based on 2 simple ideas: *That groups and networks are built on the strength of their smallest units *That complex changes (like how we need to adapt to what’s happening in the world) are best spread through tight clusters of strong relationships (see the great work from Damon Centola and Network Dynamics Group for more on this…) So our approach creates the conditions for strong co-learner relationships at every level of our design. We call this ‘the snail’, or Steve to his friends. Here are some of the questions we look to answer at each level: - Self: The core ‘relational ingredient’ in any collective learning process. How to design learning that invites individuals in as co-learners, ready to play different roles and take on more responsibility? - Pairs: If groups are built on the strength of their smaller units, how can we effectively craft pairs to be a powerful building block of larger networks? - Groups: the power of small groups to multiply the potential of everyone in them is huge. How can we design groups to best pool resources, distribute power and seed different cultures? - Interventions: When applied strategically, peer approaches can create significant impact and scale rapidly. How can we design our interventions to make the most of the power of peer-to-peer? - Ecosystem: Learning never happens in a vacuum. How do we build an awareness of the wider system we’re working in, and use that awareness to influence the design of our intervention? If you want to go deeper into the responses to all these questions, then sign up for Huddlecraft 101: https://lnkd.in/eDPzwP9B We also have a lunch & learn next week where we’ll be saying a bit more about each level and what it means for those of us who bring people together: https://lnkd.in/ed6gEjxD Join us to find out more!

Where does accessibility fit into your 2024 learning and development strategy? Accessibility is one of the five learning and development trends we identified for this year. We support organizations that are committed to providing equitable learning opportunities that take into account their team's needs. This includes people with disabilities, whether visual, auditory, psychological, physiological, or environmental, and those who face other types of barriers. Of course, it is essential that accessibility functionality is available, such as closed captioning and transcripts for all video and audio offerings, and that digital materials are accessible for people using screen readers and mouse-free navigation. We also want to make sure that people have opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge in different ways. For example, in a virtual learning session, people may be invited to share their thoughts verbally, but also in the chat if they prefer. Companies with outstanding cultures of inclusivity are focused on making sure all employees can access the information they need, and provide information to others, in a way that works for them. Please share in the chat how your organization is improving digital accessibility in your organization this year. We love to learn what organizations are doing in this area. Passionate about crafting impactful learning experiences for organizations dedicated to making a difference. Helping others to do the same through my company, book, and podcast.
I had a client express to me recently that they love our conversations about learning design and wish they could do more of it in their work. It’s not the first time I’ve had someone express this to me during one of our conversations to build a great and effective learning experience for their participants. Of course I love learning design conversations because it’s my business (!) but I really get a thrill when our clients say it. It means that we’ve been able to take what can seem like a daunting process, or their fears around, “Um, just how am I going to DO this?” and bring some structure, intentionality, and yes, fun, to starting - and finishing - a great course build that everyone can be proud of. If you are working at an organization (particularly provincial or national nonprofits or associations, with whom we do a lot of work) and have just realized that you might need to build a learning experience yet don’t know how to do it, we can help. You know your subject; we know how to work with you to design an effective learning experience – either in person or online. We have templates and resources to support the process, and we teach you stuff along the way! When our clients say this to me, that they love to have these types of conversations, it makes me feel good about the work that we’re doing. Not only do we like having these conversations too, we know when we follow our design process to help people and organizations, it actually works!
