A Plea for Authentic Connections in Our LinkedIn Network The power of LinkedIn lies in its ability to connect us, fostering a network of professionals and enabling us to expand our business horizons in unprecedented ways. This platform has granted us countless opportunities to learn, grow, and form partnerships that have the potential to impact our respective industries positively. However, of late, there seems to be a prevailing trend that threatens to obscure this genuine value: the flood of excessively 'sales-y' direct messages. While I understand and appreciate the necessity of selling as a business activity, the sheer volume of spam-like messages that lack personalization or relevance to my line of work is disconcerting. We've all experienced it, right? The DMs feel automated and disconnected. They don't take into account our interests or needs, pushing us towards a product or service without any regard for context or mutual value. This type of impersonal and high-pressure approach only serves to create distance rather than fostering the meaningful professional connections that LinkedIn was designed for. I welcome opportunities to learn about new products, services, or companies that align with my professional interests and could potentially enhance my business. But I'm sure many of us can agree that a more tailored, respectful approach would be far more effective and appreciated. In an era where authenticity and personalization are appreciated and expected, we must pivot from these unproductive tactics. Let's try to get to know each other, understand our respective businesses, and present our offerings. That, after all, is the true essence of networking. To all the LinkedIn professionals out there, let's bring back the authenticity in our interactions. Let's focus on building relationships, not just contacts. Let's start genuine conversations that lead to fruitful collaborations and long-term partnerships. I invite everyone to share their experiences and thoughts on this topic - let's trigger a much-needed change in how we network on LinkedIn. #AuthenticNetworking #LinkedInEtiquette #BusinessNetworking #Sales #networking

I always enjoy networking events – they’re a great opportunity to connect with other professionals and learn new ways to approach business challenges. These conversations often inspire me to refine how we communicate the value proposition of TextingOnly. A common question at any networking event is, “What do you do?” When I explain that TextingOnly helps businesses leverage SMS for communication, concerns about having to constantly monitor yet another messaging app often arise. “I don’t want my employees having to text people all the time, we worry about that enough trying to keep them off of mobile devices so they actually work.” This made a lot of sense to me. How are you currently handling inquiries? “We rely on phone calls, email, or web forms.” https://lnkd.in/eFBg-BuW

🤝 Building a powerful professional network on LinkedIn is like nurturing a garden of opportunities.🌱 If you're passionate about meaningful connections, I'd love to share some valuable insights on "The Dos and Don'ts of Networking on LinkedIn." Let's begin with the DON'Ts: -Avoid Mass Messaging: Sending generic messages to a large number of connections might seem efficient, but it lacks personalization. -Skip the Hard Sell: While sharing your achievements is important, avoid coming across as overly self-promotional. -Respect Boundaries: Not everyone might be open to connecting or engaging immediately. Respect their preferences and avoid being pushy. -Don't Spam or Overpost: Flooding your connections' feeds with too much content can be overwhelming. Share meaningful content at a reasonable frequency. -Don't Neglect Follow-Up: Don't let connections fade away after initial interactions. Regularly engage with their content and reach out for catch-ups to maintain the relationship. The DOs: -Personalize Your Invitations: When sending connection requests, take a moment to personalize your message. Mention a common interest, a recent achievement, or explain why you'd like to connect. It's a small gesture that can make a big difference. -Engage Authentically: Meaningful connections thrive on genuine engagement. Comment on posts, share valuable insights, and participate in conversations that align with your interests and expertise. Authenticity speaks volumes. -Offer Value First: Instead of diving into your own accomplishments, focus on how you can add value to others. Share informative articles, offer assistance, or introduce connections who could benefit from knowing each other. -Craft Thoughtful Introductions: When introducing two connections, explain why you believe they should connect. This shows your commitment to their mutual benefit and helps lay the foundation for a meaningful relationship. -Express Gratitude: When someone engages with your content or offers assistance, express your gratitude. A simple "thank you" can strengthen the connection and encourage further interaction. In the world of professional networking, it's the quality of connections that truly matters. By adhering to these dos and don'ts, you'll be well on your way to cultivating a network that's both enriching and mutually beneficial. Let's continue to connect, learn, and support each other's journeys! 🌐🙌 Share your one good and bad networking experience! #linkedinnetworking #connectionmatters #networking
