Elevating Meetings, Decision Making, & Team Collaboration | Author, Speaker, Facilitator, Consultant
In-person or online? Meetings or async? OKRs or Rocks? Slack or Teams? Experts can debate these options endlessly, but collaborative teams should not. Instead, teams should make best-effort decisions about how they'll work together, capture those decisions in a Team Agreement, and then focus on creating value. If their experience reveals a better way, they can revisit their decisions and update the Agreement later. Teams should NOT leave the how-to details unspecified nor spend eons crafting a mythically perfect system. That saps energy, wastes time, and imperils relationships. But - creating a Team Agreement for the first time can feel overwhelming. So, I'm interviewing experts to streamline the process. We'll share insights from Lisette Sutherland, Gwen Stirling Wilkie FRSA, Gustavo Razzetti, Bud Caddell, Jim Benson, Mark Kilby and Chase Warrington soon. The first insight? Many teams don't have a Team Agreement. That's good news for consultants because this ambivalence breeds dysfunction and creates more demand for outside intervention. It's not good news for people trying to get work done, though.
