"Don't apply to random internships on LinkedIn." This is not only an inefficient way but also it will reduce your confidence as you won't get much responses. Instead, what you can do to get experience as a college student or fresher is to do 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 in different institutions like IITs Or IIMs under experienced professors. This will not only help you get guidance and enhance skills, but also you will gain experience projects. I'm sharing an extensive database which contains details of more than 𝟑𝟓𝟎 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐈𝐓𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐈𝐌𝐬. From last 1 month. I realize that just applying for job or intern as a fresher is not enough.Every company or brand is looking for a intern having an experience of 3 years in tech industry in the same field. so what's to do:- 1.So the best way is do learn in public or showcase your work in public. 2.Second one is to do unpaid interships because z-index of experience will be always greater than skills or work. Don't got confuse by z-index it's a developer term. 'IT'S IS NOT AN ADVICE OR TEACHING JUST AN EXPERIENCE OF FRESHER '

Certainly, in 2024, data analysts seeking job opportunities should emphasize their desire for full-time positions rather than internships. Additionally, it's worth noting that fair compensation for interns is a global standard, and it's essential to advocate for paid internships, especially in Africa where this might still be a concern. 1. Job Focus: In 2024, data analysts should tailor their job search towards securing full-time positions, emphasizing their readiness to contribute to projects and add value from day one. 2. Internship Clarification: Specify a preference for job opportunities over internships. This signals a commitment to long-term engagement and a desire for a stable career path. 3. Global Norms: Emphasize that fair compensation for internships is a global standard. Express the expectation that, even in Africa, internships should be paid to recognize the skills and contributions of interns. 4. Skill Showcase: Highlight specific skills and experiences that make you a strong candidate for a data analyst role. Showcase proficiency in relevant tools, programming languages, and data visualization techniques. 5. Quantifiable Achievements: Provide quantifiable achievements from previous roles or projects. Numbers and statistics can effectively demonstrate the impact of your analytical skills and contribute to a potential employer's decision-making process. 6. Continuous Learning: Showcase a commitment to continuous learning and adaptation to evolving technologies and methodologies in the field of data analysis. This demonstrates your proactive approach to staying relevant in a rapidly changing industry. 7. Team Collaboration: Emphasize your ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Effective communication and teamwork are often crucial in data analysis roles, as insights need to be effectively communicated to non-technical stakeholders. 8. Industry Relevance: Tailor your resume and cover letter to highlight how your skills align with the specific needs of the industry or company you are applying to. Show a deep understanding of how data analysis can drive business objectives. 9. Networking Efforts: Mention any networking efforts, such as attendance at industry events, participation in online forums, or collaboration on open-source projects. Networking can open doors to job opportunities. 10. Professional Development Goals: Conclude by expressing your eagerness for professional growth within the company. Share your vision for how you plan to contribute to the organization's success while advancing your own career in data analysis.

Data Scientist @Spotify • I show you how I went from hundreds of job rejections to landing my dream job in Tech so that you can do it too👇🏻
3 years ago, I applied for an extremely competitive Data Science internship and I got rejected. But I still got the internship and I’m gonna show you how you can do it too👇 But first, understand there’s a formula to get a job: 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿 = (𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲) * 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 Most people don’t know that applying alone will get you NOWHERE because the market conditions factor is stronger than ever today. And it’s due to this: 🐣 𝐶𝑜𝑚𝑝𝑎𝑛𝑦 𝑚𝑎𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑖𝑡𝑦 – Most companies are not even at the stage where they need a Data Scientist 👥 𝑂𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑢𝑝𝑝𝑙𝑦 𝑜𝑓 𝑑𝑎𝑡𝑎 𝑒𝑥𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑡𝑠 – The job market has become oversaturated 💰 𝐿𝑜𝑤 ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑡 𝑖𝑛 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑝𝑎𝑛𝑖𝑒𝑠 – Many companies have shifted their priorities (Profitability > Growth), which means hiring budgets get sacked You got it. The job market is fierce, extremely competitive, and not always fair. Fine, so what are we supposed to do now? Sit and cry? ❌ NO! What most people also forget is that there is an extra element in that formula that counterattacks the market conditions factor: 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿 = [(𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲) * 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀] *🔥 𝗡𝗘𝗧𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 🔥 When I got rejected, I put my LinkedIn networking skills to work: ↳ I attended the job fair at my school and connected with the main speaker from that company ↳ I applied to the internship and reached out to the guy to express my motivation ↳ He was kind but he still sent me flying and redirected me to the HR, but I stayed in touch ↳ I got rejected from the internship, alongside all my class. I cried a bit ↳ The guy contacted me a few weeks later telling me they were still looking for an intern. He asked me to send him my application ↳ I got contacted by HR and two days later I got the internship offer What happened is that I NETWORKED from the very start. But networking is DIFFICULT. I know it because people reach out to me all the time and some do it so badly, that I don't even respond. No one is born with this skill. But it’s crucial you learn it! I did through trial and error. But most importantly I learned from the best when I was at NYU and X-HEC. And I wrote a whole article to teach you how for FREE. In 2016, 70% of people were hired at a company where they already connected with someone in it. This means 2 things for you: ↳ You might not go too far in your career if you don’t pull your social strings. ↳ If you don’t, be sure that others will, and they’ll leave you with crumbles. You choose. —— Btw, I’ve been sharing my top Medium articles from Towards Data Science on LinkedIn since last week. Today is day #6! 👋 New here? I'm Khouloud. I help data scientists land their first tech jobs and share insights through my weekly newsletter, all from my experiences as a data scientist at Spotify (all links in the comment!)
