The Culture Playbook with Daniel Coyle: Crafting Optimal Company Culture 🌟 Unveiling Surprises about High-Performing Cultures: Coyle shatters common misconceptions about top-performing cultures. Contrary to the expectation of constant happiness, he reveals that these cultures embrace tension, actively turning towards problems as a cohesive unit. Vibrant arguments within the bounds of safe connection are a hallmark of successful cultures. The vibe, according to Coyle, is about solving challenging problems with people you admire, a type-two fun that involves effort but yields rewarding outcomes. 🔄 Rethinking Culture Fit: Coyle challenges the traditional notion of culture fit, often synonymous with personal comfort. He warns against the dangers of forming a monoculture that limits cognitive perspectives. The key, he argues, is not in creating a culture fit in the traditional sense but in establishing connections within diverse teams. Smart cultures achieve this with diverse individuals, ensuring they can tackle problems as a cohesive unit. 🛠️ Tools for Building Connection in Diverse Teams: Smart cultures employ tools like team charters and user manuals. Team charters involve collaborative goal-setting and defining working methods, fostering shared awareness. User manuals serve as guides to understanding team members' working styles, creating transparency and connection within the team. 🔄 Shifting Focus from Leadership to Teamwork: In a notable shift, Coyle emphasizes the evolving demands of the modern world. Instead of fixating on individual leadership, the focus should shift to being a great teammate. The ability to adapt, learn, and collaborate becomes paramount in a world demanding malleability and flexibility. 🕊️ Visualizing Team Dynamics: Coyle paints a vivid picture of teamwork using the analogy of a flock of birds navigating a forest. The essence lies not in having a lead bird dictating every move but in self-organizing in real-time. Creating connection, trust, awareness, and cohesion within the group becomes crucial for staying together, changing, and adapting in the fast-paced challenges of modern work. Key Insights: Coyle emphasizes that the seemingly magical energy in successful groups is not arbitrary but a result of specific factors, including chemistry, cooperation, trust, and selflessness. The urgency of building a robust culture is accentuated in the current context of rapid changes in work dynamics. The book, "The Culture Playbook," offers 60 highly effective actions to empower groups to succeed, providing actionable insights drawn from Coyle's extensive research. 🚀 Takeaway: Explore the magic behind high-performing teams and discover actionable strategies in "The Culture Playbook." Adapt, connect, and learn together as we navigate the ever-evolving landscape of work. #CompanyCulture #TheCulturePlaybook #DanielCoyle #Teamwork #Adaptability #LeadershipEvolution #ModernWorkplace

Building a Culture of Innovation in Property Management Teams Cultivating an innovative culture within property management teams is not just about adopting new technologies; it's about creating an environment where innovation thrives at every level. As we delve further into our series on "Innovative Thinking in the Workplace," today we focus on the foundational elements that foster a culture of innovation in property management. Key Strategies for Fostering Innovation: Empower Your Team: Empowerment is the cornerstone of an innovative culture. Encourage team members to take ownership of their projects and decisions. This sense of responsibility can motivate them to think creatively and propose innovative solutions. Promote Risk-Taking: Innovation involves experimentation, and not all experiments lead to success. Create a safe space for taking calculated risks, where failures are seen as opportunities for learning rather than setbacks. Facilitate Continuous Learning: The property management industry is constantly evolving, making continuous learning essential for staying ahead. Offer opportunities for professional development, whether through workshops, courses, or access to online learning platforms. Encourage Collaboration: Break down silos within your organization to encourage cross-departmental collaboration. Diverse perspectives can spark creative solutions that might not emerge within isolated teams. Recognize and Reward Innovation: Acknowledge and reward contributions that drive innovation. Recognition can come in many forms, from shout-outs in team meetings to formal awards or incentives. Celebrating these achievements reinforces the value placed on innovative thinking. Implementing a Culture of Innovation: Building an innovative culture is an ongoing process that requires commitment from all levels of the organization. Start with small, actionable steps and gradually build on them. Regularly assess the impact of these initiatives and adjust your strategies as needed. Remember, the goal is to weave innovation into the fabric of your daily operations. As we navigate the path toward a more innovative future in property management, it's clear that the journey is as important as the destination. Cultivating an environment that celebrates innovation is key to unlocking the full potential of your team and setting new standards in the industry. How are you fostering an innovative culture within your team? Share your strategies and the impact they've had on your operations. #PropertyManagement #Innovation #TeamCulture #Proptech #Leadership

Focussed on Supporting Early Stage Technology and High Growth Startups | Associate Partner at Cooper Parry | Advisor to angel & venture backed startups | Partner to Foundrs community | Invest a bit
A culture is not invented. A culture constantly evolves... which is why it must be nurtured. Culture is the artifact - and result of - relationships. Tech & High Growth 0-100 🚀 Our team was born in a locked down London and we have lived and breathed our work with a wherever, whenever strategy. Building a team where remote is the norm and output focused performance is our MO. With the winter drawing in, I'm reflecting back on the summer, where we mobilised the entire Tech & High Growth team and got together for the first time since we broke through 100 team member mark💯. It was awesome day from start to finish. As leaders of the team, seeing the full extent of the team in front of us that's been built in a few years was awe inspiring 🤩. It's often thought that it's the highs and the celebrations that define culture. 🏢 The office space. 🍻 The free beers. 🎯 The company socials. But what also shapes culture is in how we handle the challenges. The way we handle challenges, support of teammates, diversity and psychological safety of an environment, reacting to change. This is key to us. Operating openly and not being afraid to discuss or share the challenges we face. Tackling them together as one. We explored this on the day, dialling in on the DNA we have as a team and how we operate, which was delivered with panache by Steve Leith, James Peck and Asif Ahmed. 🧬THG DNA 1 - 𝐖𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦, 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐦 - we are in this together, in the end we only have each other 2 - 𝐒𝐞𝐭 𝐚 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐛𝐚𝐫 - for yourself and those around you 3 - 𝐆𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚 𝐬𝐡*𝐭 - hold onto a finisher mentality whatever the scale around you 4 - 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨 - find your passion, our clients and the team will feel it 5 - 𝐕𝐔𝐂𝐀 - volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity - learn to embrace it 6 - 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞 (𝐤𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐚) - do the right thing, add value and the work will come 7 - 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 - work and lead in the open 8 - 𝐀𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 - assume there's another team from another firm who want it more 9 - 𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨.1 - reputation cycle is everything, the ecosystem will make us or kill us 10 - 𝐊𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 - find ways to do it better, internally and externally We also have some "btw's" 😉 👉 It won't always be pretty, but.. 👉 We grow, you grow 👉 Obsess about ops and build everything for 2x the scale, but remember... 👉 Nothing will stop changing, ever. Enjoy it. THG FEST '23 was a awesome. We can't wait to do it again at Christmas and again in 2024 🚀 Cooper Parry #techandhighgrowth #DNA #culture

Transform Your Team into an Innovation Powerhouse with These 7 Strategies In today's rapidly changing business landscape, innovation is the key to staying ahead of the competition. To foster a culture of creativity and transform your team into an innovation powerhouse, consider these strategies: 1️⃣ Encourage Knowledge Sharing: Create an environment where team members feel comfortable sharing their ideas, experiences, and expertise. The more knowledge shared, the more innovation generated. 2️⃣ Rethink Team Meetings: Structure team meetings in ways that promote creativity and idea-sharing. Try brainstorming sessions, open forums, or even informal huddles to encourage diverse perspectives and fresh insights. 3️⃣ Ask Thoughtful Questions: The right questions can ignite innovation. Encourage team members to ask open-ended, thought-provoking questions that challenge the status quo and stimulate creative thinking. 4️⃣ Match Tasks to Talent: Assign tasks according to team members' strengths and talents. This not only enhances morale and productivity but also allows individuals to excel in areas where they're most skilled, fostering innovation. 5️⃣ Fuel Enthusiasm: Infuse excitement into your team's projects by providing big-picture context. Create a sense of purpose and motivation by connecting their work to a larger, meaningful goal. 6️⃣ Embrace Different Perspectives: Diverse perspectives, experiences, and ideas drive innovation from different angles and lead to new approaches or products. 7️⃣ Celebrate Failures as Learning Opportunities: Innovation often comes with experimentation, and not every idea will succeed. Encourage a culture where failure is seen as a stepping stone to success, and learning is celebrated. Innovative teams don't just happen; they are intentionally cultivated. The Vital Imperative: Be Open is Crucial in Every Organization In the complex landscape of modern organizations, a crucial tenet stands out as both the bedrock of transparency and the catalyst for innovation: "Be Open." Let's deep dive why fostering a culture of openness is not just a virtue but an essential fundamental for any thriving company. 1. Fosters Trust and Collaboration Openness is the cornerstone of trust. When individuals within an organization are open about their ideas, challenges, and even mistakes, it creates an atmosphere of trust. This trust, in turn, nurtures collaboration, as team members feel secure in sharing their perspectives and contributing to collective success. 2. Encourages Innovation Innovation thrives in an environment where ideas can flow freely. A culture of openness encourages employees to express their creative thoughts without fear of judgment. When diverse ideas are welcomed and openly discussed, it sparks innovation and the generation of breakthrough solutions. 3. Facilitates Effective Communication Openness is the linchpin of effective communication. In an open culture, information is shared transparently, ensuring that everyone is on the same page. This clear and open communication reduces misunderstandings, enhances team cohesion, and fosters a shared understanding of organizational goals. 4. Nurtures a Learning Culture A company that values openness inherently fosters a learning culture. When employees are encouraged to openly share their experiences, both successes and failures, it creates an environment where continuous learning is not just encouraged but celebrated. This, in turn, promotes personal and professional growth. 5. Enhances Problem-Solving: An open culture is conducive to effective problem-solving. When individuals feel free to voice their concerns and ideas openly, it facilitates the identification and resolution of challenges. Open discussions enable the pooling of collective intelligence, leading to more robust and innovative solutions. Consider a tech company where the leadership maintains an open-door policy. Team members are encouraged to openly share their ideas, even if unconventional. This openness led to the discovery of a groundbreaking concept by a junior team member, changing the trajectory of a key project and positioning the company as an industry leader in innovation. "Be Open" is not merely a guideline; it's a strategic imperative. In an era where adaptability and innovation are paramount, cultivating a culture of openness becomes a competitive advantage. Organizations that prioritize openness create an environment where trust, collaboration, and innovation flourish. It's not just about sharing information; it's about building a foundation for sustained success. #CompanyCulture #BeOpen #Organizational
