Hello 👋 It's Tuesday, and as usual, we get practical in our conversations. Today, let's talk about some of the university common units that, if tapped it could jumpstart our lives to make a living while creating impact. While at the University in my time there were 3 common units that captivated me, then. The same are very critical in our now AI driven world where hard skills are at risk of becoming obsolete. Let's get to it! Creative and #criticalthinking #Communication and #entrepreneurship In my days, I loved attending critical thinking classes such that I could repeat it just to listen to Professor cause us to think! There was a particular phase where the prof would tell us to open a page and write the topic and ask us to go generate ideas and, on the next page, analyze those ideas 💡 and draw conclusions. Well, as a fresher trying to find your path, it was possible to have blank pages and no notes to refer in preparation for end of Semester exams 🙃 This exercise had its own lesson, and the listening skills needed to be sharpened!That is how I developed the listening skills that have been making my everyday job very interesting and enjoyable 😉 That explains my critical thinking skills that I capitalize in #designthinking and #productmanagement. Another skill that I wish it was taken seriously on campus is #entrepreneurship. This is something that could address the unemployment issue to some extent in our current society. Lastly the #communicationskills, which our today's young people are struggling to express themselves to some extent, I am being careful because we have another generation that are very expressive and are not afraid to share their thoughts whether they feel understood or not! I digress a little However, because we tend to do majors in specialties by the time a graduate is through with college, the not utilized skills become forgotten and replaced! If I were to go back there, I would pay much attention to the 3 and add #goalsetting as part of the mandatory units to be taken and perhaps do them as the finalist units to set the students for success!
