Leslie Nava, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, has plans to pursue a master's degree in architecture soon after completing her undergrad. "I enjoy the grey area that there is in between architecture and civil engineering, and I think getting a master’s in architectural engineering can help me achieve the goals that I have set for myself," she said. Recently, our construction management students have completed the Reinforced Concrete Beam Lab as apart of their Structures in Construction course. This hands-on lab, lead by Professors Anh D. Chau and Steve Makredes, is designed to meet the #ACCE Student Learning Outcomes and help students understand the basic principles of structural behavior. 🛠 Lab Highlights: ✔ Students worked in teams to assemble and later disassemble a reinforced concrete beam. ✔ They explored the functions of top bars, bottom bars, and stirrups in continuous beams. ✔ The lab was funded by the CBIF #CollierBuildingIndustryFoundation Collier BIA, providing essential materials and equipment. 👷♂️ 👷♀️ Student Engagement: These experiences bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world application, preparing our students for successful careers in construction management. #HandsOnLearining #StructuresInConstruction #ReinforcedConcrete #Lab
