💡 New Spotlight: Daniel Alp and using Foxglove to make it to the VEX world championships 💡 With over 10,000 teams across the globe, the VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) is the world’s largest high school robotics program. Combining engineering and strategy, VRC challenges students to build and program robots for game-based tasks. For the past three years, Daniel Alp has competed in VRC as the captain of his school’s team. They’ve made it to the world championship twice and were finalists in the 2024 Ontario, Canada provincials. 🤖 “Overall, I’ve found Foxglove easy to plug into and customize. Instead of sticking with inefficient visualization methods or getting bogged down in reinventing the wheel, I was able to move quickly and significantly cut the time spent tuning and debugging”. 🚤✨ " I embarked on an exhilarating voyage into the heart of autonomous innovation at the 🔅 16th Annual International Roboboat Competition in the vibrant landscapes of Florida. 🌟 From the hum of electric excitement to the awe-inspiring showcase of cutting-edge technology navigating the waves, the Roboboat Competition wasn't just an event—it was a convergence of brilliance and a testament to the boundless possibilities that emerge when passionate minds unite. 🌟 The lessons learned continue to resonate, steering us towards innovative solutions and contributing to the evolution of autonomous technology. As the sea of memories from that event surges in my mind, I am reminded that our journey in tech is a perpetual expedition, with each experience shaping the course. 🌟 My contributions : As a software team at VYUHA ASV 2.0, we began by planning the entire project. We divided responsibilities among ourselves, and my primary role was to develop software for detecting buoys and shapes using zedcam , powered by Jetson Orin. We also worked on programming the boat for navigation using pymavlink and Pixhawk cube orange controller as acts an intermediate between pymavlink commands and controlling the propeller system. Our efforts paid off when we were selected for the finale, and I'm proud to say that we were the only team representing India. Skippy is a human-sized robot leg that showcases cutting-edge technology and advanced AI for dynamic balancing and hopping. Powered by the ring screw mechanism invented by Prof. Roy Featherstone, a faster alternative to the commercial ball screw, Skippy can execute highly dynamic athletic maneuvers. Its crash-resistant design will allow the robot to push its physical limits, learning and improving through AI-driven trial and error. Exciting news for the future of robotics! NVIDIA is developing a new AI model called GR00T, specifically designed to help humanoid robots learn new skills much faster. GR00T uses a combination of techniques, including watching videos and imitating human demonstrations, all powered by the powerful Jetson Thor robotics chips from NVIDIA. I believe that this breakthrough in robotics will change the game. Robots won't just be for factories or large warehouses anymore!
