Deborah Heart and Lung Center recently announced it successfully implanted the AVEIR DR, the world’s first dual-chamber leadless #pacemakersystem from Abbott, which effectively treats people with abnormal or slow heart rhythms. The groundbreaking system, approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), provides Browns Mills-based Deborah Heart and Lung Center with a new, minimally invasive option to treat the nearly 80% of people who require pacing in two chambers of the heart (both the right atrium and right ventricle). Unlike traditional pacemakers, leadless devices are implanted directly into the heart through a minimally invasive procedure and eliminate the need for cardiac leads. As a result, leadless pacemakers reduce people’s exposure to potential lead and pocket-related complications and offer a less restrictive and shorter recovery period post-implantation. https://lnkd.in/gjfCNvXz

When exploring reversable and treatable causes of cardiac arrest, both in practice and simulation practitioners are drawn towards the A,B,C,D,E Approach. ABCDE has become embedded in the management of acutely and critically unwell patients over the last 30 years. Yet the European Resuscitation Council ALS guidelines recommend the 4 H's and 4T's approach. Is it time to explore a change in approach? Djärv, T. and Kloeck, W. (2023) “Reversible causes: After three decades with 4H4Ts, might we be ready for the generic ABCDE approach?,” Resuscitation, 193(110019), p. 110019. doi: 10.1016/j.resuscitation.2023.110019.
