From event organisers, venues and spaces, to our suppliers, partners and customers who work with us, it requires a collective will and a concerted effort from each of us to drive impactful change across the value-chain. For our Venues team at Singapore EXPO, providing tangible solutions that enable sustainable exhibitions and events is mission critical. As the nation's largest sustainable purpose-built MICE venue, our sustainability journey is aimed at helping Singapore achieve its vision of Net Zero emissions by 2050, focusing on three areas: ⚡ Onsite renewables and building efficiency: Home to Singapore’s largest single-site solar PV system, the venue can enable large-scale exhibitions (such as the recent FHA-Food & Beverage) to be powered by renewable energy. ♻️ Waste management: Our robust waste management program enables organisers to report on and work towards significantly reducing their waste at events. Onsite at the venue, our recycling centre and food digestor allow us to measure, separate, reuse and recycle materials from events as well as process 365 tonnes of food waste a year. 🌱 Sustainable F&B practices: Our culinary team takes pride in applying its farm-to-table philosophy to food innovation. The team harvests fresh ingredients from the venue's herb gardens and prioritises working with like-minded local partners who source sustainably and supply eco-friendly materials. The workshop "FU-TOURISM, EU funds for innovative Startups and Scaleups in tourism", was held in the framework of the European project FU-TOURISM. The CEO of Finnova Foundation, Juanma Revuelta, was in charge of presenting this project, led by the Croatian company EUPOLIS Group and integrated by a partnership of eight entities from Croatia, Belgium, Spain, Greece, Austria, Poland and Italy. Finnova's participation focused on highlighting the crucial role of the FU-TOURISM project, funded with €4 million by the COSME program, in boosting the green and digital transition of small and medium-sized tourism enterprises in Europe through two acceleration programs that identifies and supports a total of 102 tourism SMEs from six European countries that are part of the project through support services for sustainability, digitalization, inclusive business models and direct financial assistance. The post-pandemic Taiwanese MICE industry has put ESG at the heart of its growth in 2023 💚 With the aim of leading MICE stakeholders towards net-zero in 2050, Taiwan External Trade Development Council #TAITRA along with #MEETTAIWAN have launched the Sustainable MICE, Taking Strides Towards Net Zero project, and the Taiwan MICE Sustainability White Paper, released in 2022, is one of the resources available. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁, 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆? This document (originally in Chinese but with the English translation available in the link below) is the first of its kind in Asia, and its goal is to provide MICE stakeholders with a sustainable framework for MICE operations. The five fundamental principles of the framework are Sustainability, Impact, Resilience, Collaboration, Ownership (hence the 𝗦𝗜𝗥𝗖𝗢 framework), which guide event organizers through a 4-step cycle: 1️⃣ Vision and Mission 2️⃣ Governance 3️⃣ Implementation 4️⃣ Impact Assessment and Disclosure. The paper gives a complete overview of the background as well as very practical details and scenarios for business event professionals. While it is said to be one of the most comprehensive sustainability document in Asia, it only one of the resources to achieve our sustainability targets. 🏖️This week we travelled to Galicia, Spain with FU-TOURISM!   📣We are happy to announce that during this week, Thursday 30th May, and Friday 31st May, our project has been presented at the I International Tourism Cooperation Symposium, organised by ASICOTUR, and also at a talk organized by TURISLAB Project, as an example of good practises in the context of efficient use of European funds to promote circular economy and tourism. With these actions, FU-TOURISM shows its commitment to encouraging and disseminating the need for the twin transition of the tourism ecosystem.   🎤@FINNOVA FOUNDATION, one of our partners, has given these two presentations and showcased the project, with two interventions happening these days. In both speeches, the foundation discussed the EU funds available to promote the circular economy and tourism using the FU-TOURISM project as an example of good practice.    🎯With the support of €4 million from the European Commission's SMP European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) programme, FU-TOURISM will help 102 European small and medium-sized enterprises in the tourism sector to thrive in an era of digital and green change. To achieve this, it will offer two acceleration initiatives:   🚀1. FU-TOURISM ACCELERATION PROGRAMME: 60 SMEs -10 per country. (Mentoring and financial support of €20,000 each).   🚀2. SCALING UP FU-TOURISM PROGRAMME: 42 SME associations - 7 per country. (Mentoring and financial support of 30.000€.
