𝐒𝐨... 𝐢𝐬 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠? The unfortunate truth is that after living somewhere for years, we all start to develop our routines and with that comes the mundanity of life. While it is easy to view #Singapore as mundane due to the familiarity of our routines and surroundings, it is essential to recognize the peace and stability that Singapore offers amidst its predictability. Be it taking a salad bowl approach, where cultures are added together but are still separate, or that of the melting pot, where cultures are mixed together -- I can only agree with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam that staying open to one another’s cultures and learning from others is key in Singapore today. Despite the seemingly repetitive nature of daily life, Singapore, oh Singapore - we love you for your vibrant food scene, neighbourhoods that thrive between heritage and gentrification, and just simply for the fact that you live up to your "the city that never sleeps" title. Embracing a perspective that appreciates the progress our nation has made in such a short time, can possibly transform how we experience Singapore - encouraging us to seek new adventures within the familiar. Ultimately, finding beauty in the ordinary may lead to a renewed appreciation for this dynamic and evolving city we live in! *** For the past weeks, Singapore enjoyed its largest nocturnal experience known as the #SingaporeNightFestival - this time embracing a nostalgia-centric theme titled Art of Play! Here's me trying to spice up my life in Singapore by taking a stroll down the nostalgic 1950s to 1970s memory lane - though as it turns out I did not manage to experience, but have always heard many stories about from families and friends! (𝘊𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘸𝘪𝘴𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘰𝘱 𝘭𝘦𝘧𝘵) 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐬 - Inspired by an unfinished beaded panel at the Peranakan Museum, here's to celebrate the intricate artistry and diverse perspectives of the Peranakan communities! 𝐒𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 - what a wonderful olfactory installation by Aesop to have carefully scented the arboreal structures with their Eaux de Parfum collection! 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐀 𝐃𝐲𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚 - Drawing inspiration from the lively Chinese Street Operas ("wayangs") that have thrived since 1842, here's an interactive installation featuring a tricycle adorned with tarpaulin-covered boxes, and by pedalling it illuminates an illustrated Chinese opera scene on the wall. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 - Watching Chijmes' building facade light up with digital illuminations, featuring new and upcoming local projection mapping artists 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐅𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 - Reminiscing abut the past while envisioning the future of play - all by rekindling our imagination, creativity and joy with paper planes! #SGNightFest #SNF2024 #BrasBasahBugis #SGFestivals National Heritage Board

A Tale of Two (or Three…) Cities... #taylorswift begins the Asia leg of The Eras Tour this week, anchoring in #Tokyo for a series of shows that will generate an economic impact of USD $230mm according to Mitsumasa Etoh of Tokyo City University. Later in February the AEG promoted tour will head to Singapore where Swift will be the 2nd artist to play 6 sold out shows at National Stadium this quarter (the first being the Live Nation Entertainment promoted Coldplay shows in January. Not to be forgotten is Bruno Mars, who will be playing three (3) shows in Singapore in April. Credit to Dennis Argenzia for leading those. As Kallang Alive Sport Management Co Pte. Ltd.'s SportsHub hosts nearly 1,000,000 music fans in 4 months across the Swift, Bruno Mars and Coldplay events, #HongKong is left out of the conversation. The city’s cultural events industry is languishing thanks to a haphazard or non-existent large-scale events strategy as well as outdated venue infrastructure (the new, world-class Kai Tak stadium won’t open until 2025). This year’s great big event? An exhibition football march in which Lionel Messi’s InterMiami played….the local Hong Kong team. Messi failed to take the field due to injury leading to resounding boos from the assembled fans, a public apology from first time events promoter Tatler, and an immediate government rebuke and clawback of committed funds. Not the impact the organizers were hoping for. In the coming weeks I’ll be detailing ❓ How Singapore Tourism Board, SportsHub and AEG have created a model for destination music tourism 👀 How the region’s strongest brands (and Culture Group clients) UOB, Marina Bay Sands and Klook have served as purveyors and enablers of cultural moments 💰 The role of the ‘Cultural Wallet’ in driving discretionary spending you never knew your customers were capable of 👨🏫 How Culture Group Pte Ltd has worked with clients to participate in and dominate these cultural moments Marshall Nu Sheryl Cai Ross H. The Taylor Swift phenomenon has captivated Singapore! In fact – did you know that Singapore was ranked #1 worldwide in the past year searching “Taylor Swift concert” according to our @Google search trends? The “Swift effect” or “Swiftonomics” has taken Swifties, and most Singaporeans by storm with six sold-out shows. It has been interesting to see how live events have cemented Singapore’s position as a regional entertainment hub. The Grand Prix is an obvious fixture, as is the HSBC Women's World Championship that just took place over the weekend at Sentosa Golf Club… and the line up of moments the team at Sentosa Development Corporation have lined up for the rest of the year is pretty exciting. This all clearly drives significant economic impact - as our eConomy report 2023 highlights, travel is the second largest sector in Singapore’s #digital economy, and it's only going to continue growing with government funding like the $300M boost for tourism announced by Alvin Tan the past week, and with the nation becoming an even bigger entertainment hub for the region over time. But back to Taylor… if you managed to get your tickets to one of her shows, swipe the image to find out how you can enjoy the concert with the magic of AI:

Malaysia Pavilion An idea struck while visiting pasar malam at my neighbourhood. Osaka is known as Japan's Kitchen, and similarly, we propose the Malaysia Pavilion as the Kitchen of the World Expo. What better means to showcase Malaysia than through our rich and diverse food culture? The pavilion will be designed to replicate the vibrant atmosphere of a typical Malaysian night market, featuring a multitude of kiosks. While assembling a large number of hawkers to prepare our favourite street foods at the World Expo might not be practical, our alternative approach involves capturing the sounds of the preparation of our favourite street foods and the ambient surroundings. This approach aims to provide visitors with a sensory experience, allowing them to immersing them in the vibrant ambience atmosphere of a Malaysian night market. Its symphony of our night market. Hope Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) can give Malaysian architects a chance. Tengku Zafrul Aziz Chin Tong Liew Try to guess the preparation of which street food correspond to this sound. Its related to chicken.
