"How do you keep up as an industrial designer?" 🔍 I'm often asked this question. We designers thrive on innovation and creativity. It's essential to stay informed and inspired. For me, staying current involves regularly reading top industry blogs like FastCoDesign, Dezeen, and Core77. These platforms offer insights into global design trends and creative thinking. I also attend key trade fairs like Salone del Mobile in Milan, Dutch Design Week, and CES in Las Vegas. These events are perfect for witnessing innovations and networking with peers. It’s about engaging with the broader design community and continuously learning. P.S. What is your favorite design blog or event? — Like this? I’m Simon T. Hopefully you will be able to add Sustainable Engineering’s Viridis discovery platform and Design Guide to your list when we launch. It is an open source database of ideas to help designers reduce the environmental impact of the products they develop.
The networking aspect is so important, especially for staying connected with industry trends.
I love the idea of events. You can meet lots of designers there and brainstorm together.
Love it, Simon and so important to stay up to date with your industry and as you mentioned, also broaden that range of inspiration and knowledge.

Thanks for sharing this Simon T. Gorski . I used to check out Yanko Design 😅
I also think we get ideas from just connecting the dots. This is what creativity does.

3moNice post, Simon! In my case, speaking up for the designers who live in countries/cities out of the mainstream design events map and can't afford to attend, I'd say: be a heavy reader, listener and watcher of ID content. Plus, choose the right designers to follow on social media, and every so often search for new scientific articles about your favorite topics inside ID. This all helps to break geographical barriers a little.
