Compassionate people are boundaried people. When we fail to set boundaries and hold people accountable, we feel used and mistreated. This can lead to self-righteous anger and blame. Instead, lead with compassion. Separate people from their behaviors. Address what they’re doing, not who they are. Brown, B. (2022). The Gifts of Imperfection: 10th Anniversary Edition: Features a New Foreword and Brand-new Tools. Hazelden Publishing.

Do you make your bed in the morning? I have always loved this speech by William H. McRaven. This video begins with the statement, "So if you want to change the world, start off by making your bed." The point he is making is that "If you can't do the little things right, you'll never be able to do the big things right." I actually don't make my bed every morning. I've never seen the functional purpose of doing so. And this speech doesn't make me reconsider my lifelong pattern of not making my bed. However, I do agree with the point that the little things matter. Any big project, initiative, or idea will only come into fruition because of the countless "little things" done along the way. And when those little things are done halfhazardly, they risk impacting the larger goal in a negative way. In short, it's essential to give as much attention to the "little things" as the "big things". #enterpreneurship #leadership
