Attend, interact with the panel and the audience. Let’s all learn together and lift one another in #MedEd. #ThrivingInMedicine

Did you know: Black women are 3x more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than White women. The reasons? Lack of quality healthcare, chronic conditions, institutional racism, and bias. We aim to tackle this issue with our new Dad 2 Dads program, made possible by Anthem. We aim to focus on community outreach, support, and mentoring for men. 🙌 Our goal? More full-term births, fewer NICU admissions, and HAPPIER and HEALTHIER moms. Tune-in and don't miss last week's incredible episode of #AnotherView, and learn more: https://lnkd.in/eeN_ejAH

Although I’ve only worked in social care for a few years, I’ve come to understand the profound impact of inclusion and coproduction. Inclusion isn’t just about meeting diversity quotes or ticking Boxes it’s about recognising the inherent value of every individual and harnessing the unique perspectives to drive positive change. Coproduction is more than just a buzzword It’s a philosophy that empowers individuals with lived experiences to become equal partners in decision-making processes. When we embrace coproduction in healthcare and social care settings, we acknowledge that those who receive support are experts in their own lives. Their insights preferences and experiences are invaluable resources that can inform and improve the services we provide. One of the key benefits of coproduction is its ability to foster mutual understanding and empathy. By involving people with learning disabilities in the planning and evaluation of services we gain deeper insight into their needs preferences and challenges. This collaborative approach only leads to more tailored and effective support but also cultivates a sense of trust and respect between people with the learning disability and/or autism and providers. Moreover, coproduction promotes inclusivity and empowerment. When individuals with learning disabilities are given a seat at the table they feel valued, respected, and empowered to actively participate in decisions that affect their lives. This sense of ownership and agency can have a transformative effect on their self-esteem, confidence, and overall well-being. But the benefits of coproduction extend beyond individual empowerment, they also have ripple effects that benefit the entire healthcare system. By actively involving experts by experience in the design and delivery of services, we can identify and address systemic barriers and inequalities that may otherwise go unnoticed. This inclusive approach not only leads to more responsive and person centred care but also fosters a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within our organisations. Brandon Adventurers, Ilhem Berrou, Debbie Moreno-Chamorro and Rachel Roberts have published an article outlining our approach to coproduction and the impact this has made to everyone involved. Please follow the link below to read the abstract (there is a fee to read the entire article) https://lnkd.in/eUMzJF_2

#SpeakingofScience: For #clinicaltrials to bring real, widespread change, we MUST improve representation in these studies. We need to rethink the barriers that prevent certain populations from participating in trials, such as inaccessible trial locations and exclusionary criteria. T his article in STAT News highlights both the potential benefits of inclusive trials, and the obstacles still in place for disabled people who could otherwise participate in revolutionary #clinicalresearch. To see real representative results applicable to all populations, we must increase awareness around this issue and advocate for policy changes. #diversityinhealthcare #medicalscience #inclusivehealthcare https://lnkd.in/enY5zcB6

Boosting this new resource from Rx partners at the Institute for Exceptional Care, who are doing brilliant work that highlights disability as an equity issue in health care and builds actionable solutions for providers who have received little, if any, training in caring for people with disabilities. "The National Roadmap for Disability Inclusive Care is a plan for clinicians to learn how to give the best healthcare possible to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Created by the Action to Build Clinical Confidence and Culture (ABC3) Coalition, the Roadmap included input from people with IDD, their care partners and caregivers, clinicians, and other healthcare leaders." https://lnkd.in/eEqSCmUN
