Thousands of Hoosiers in need of assisted living are being forced to wait for access to the Aged & Disabled Waiver. Without these funds, most will find it extremely difficult to get the care they need. 💔 While this is, indeed, greatly impacting our industry, it's also sadly impacting the lives of many in need of assisted care and their caretakers. Despite meeting all requirements for the A&D Waiver, families across the state have been denied access to the funds they need to access critical care services. 🔗 Are you interested in making your voice heard? Happy Friday! I wanted to speak more about the situation that I discussed yesterday. So why did Medicaid not cover home care services for Janet? There are different types of Medicaid services. Some Medicaid programs provide health coverage for low-income adults and children, or they may provide healthcare to pregnant women or for elderly adults and people with disabilities. In Janet's situation, she was on low-income Medicaid which did not cover for home care services in this state. She had to apply for the Medicaid Waiver program for elderly adults. If you know someone who needs Medicaid assistance and they get denied Medicaid, it may be because they applied for the wrong program. If you have any specific questions about this, just let me know! #medicaid #medicaidplanning #medicare #dementia #alzheimers

Yesterday wass #NationalCaregiversDay, In honor of this day, we're highlighting Caregiver Agreements, sometimes called "Personal Care Contracts." These are beneficial for certain individuals as part of an overall long-term care plan. With the proper contract in place, elderly care can be provided by a family member or friend, all while helping the individual in need qualify for Medicaid. Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) are a lifeline to help seniors, individuals with disabilities, and those managing #chronicconditions live independently. 🏦HCBS waivers provide states with additional funding to expand their #HCBS offerings and address the long-term needs of their residents. 📈 Despite a modest increase in funding for HCBS waivers, unmet needs persist. According to the National Library of Medicine (NLM), the consequences of unmet HCBS needs can be severe. People who are unable to access HCBS may have to rely on more expensive and restrictive institutional care. They may also experience social isolation and loneliness and have difficulty participating in their communities.
