This transformation dramatically reduces the model's size and boosts inference speed, allowing it to run on devices with limited resources. While quantization can impact model performance, the challenge lies in striking the right balance between compression and accuracy. This equilibrium is achieved through meticulous calibration and refinement of the quantization process. By making LLMs more compact and efficient, quantization is paving the way for widespread AI deployment across a variety of devices, democratizing access to advanced AI capabilities.
