Equality Knows No Gender ♀️ For more than 100 years, the International Women’s Day on March 8th is considered a day to celebrate social, economic, cultural and political achievements. Yet, there is still a way to go towards equality, self-determination and acceptance in 2024. We, KfW IPEX-Bank, do not tolerate any discrimination and are actively committed to equality. Our aim is to create an atmosphere in which everyone has equal opportunities and rights, regardless of gender, colour, religion or sexual orientation. Being constantly committed to promoting diversity in all areas of our company, we already have a 50% quota of women on the Management Board and are driving the issue forward with targets that we have set ourselves. Our vision is that gender doesn’t matter, but expertise, achievements and capabilities. Today is #InternationalWomensDay 🌐 In 2022, the income of Danish men was on average 12.2% higher than women's, and upon retirement, Danish men have 17% more savings than women. According to the World Economic Forum, it will take a staggering 257 years at the current pace to close the global financial gender gap! SANAD is committed to gender inclusivity, fostering an environment where everyone has equal opportunities to thrive. At the recent SANABEL conference in Jordan, the fund’s Technical Assistance Facility (TAF) launched the Gender Key Performance Indicator (KPI) toolkit in English and Arabic, demonstrating our dedication to gender equality. After conducting a review of the market landscape in the MENA region through a gender lens, SANADs TAF identified key gaps and needs for institutions on mainstreaming gender both institutionally and operationally. This analysis laid the groundwork for initiatives aimed at dismantling barriers and advancing gender inclusion. The Gender KPI Toolkit equips partner institutions to integrate gender considerations into their operations seamlessly. Despite facing challenges like widespread gender inequality and cultural factors, the movement shows signs of progress, albeit slow. ▶️▶️Younger generations are more receptive to the movement's message, and local adaptations of the hashtag have emerged. Promoting women's economic empowerment in Central Asia is not only crucial for advancing gender equality but also for driving global economic growth. Despite facing deep-rooted systemic obstacles, there have been ongoing efforts to enhance women's economic participation in the region. According to the World Bank's "Women, Business, and the Law 2024" report, Central Asian countries have made progress in achieving gender equality, with Uzbekistan leading the way with a score of 82.5. However, there is still significant work to be done to address barriers and ensure women have equal opportunities in the economy. Yes it is great to be #4 in the world but how relevant is that when your pay gap is 20%, when you have 1 in 3 chance of being violently abused in your lifetime, when your retirement savings are 36% less than mens or when you look at CEOs of NZ organisations and see that only 14% are lead by women. There is so much more to be done to create a truly equitable Aotearoa for all genders.
