Let’s take a moment to consider what truly matters. 🧠💛 Today is #WorldSuicidePreventionDay—a day to reflect, listen, and support those who may be quietly struggling. It’s more than just spreading awareness; it’s about creating real connections and offering genuine care. 🌍 A small gesture can have a big impact. Sometimes, reaching out with a simple "How are you?" can be life-changing for someone in pain. 💬💡 Let’s commit to breaking the stigma around #mentalhealth. Let’s normalize asking for help and offering support without judgment. We’re all in this together; every conversation can make a difference. If you’re finding things tough, know that you matter. Reach out. There’s hope, and there’s always someone willing to listen. 💛 Be the reason someone feels heard today. . . . . . . . When I was in my marketing and business development roles at Coco, one of my VERY favorite things to do was to connect entrepreneurs and small businesses to tools, resources, and people that would help them launch and grow their businesses. As I worked alongside my team to help create experiences and opportunities for others, I loved watching how people and their ventures would grow and change in very significant ways. As I fast-forward to today, I still love getting people connected to the resources they need to find support but in a very different way. You may have seen that there is a lot going on this month related to #mentalhealth and #RecoveryMonth. When someone is on their own journey of recovery and wellbeing, asking for help in this area can be a lot more daunting and I've found that by offering to help before being asked to do so can open doors for others to walk through. Therefore, in the spirit of National Recovery Month and taking care of one's mental health, here are a few events happening over the next week that I believe are worthy of checking out as it relates to getting connected in community, getting resources, and finding support for one's own journey. More to come over the course of the month! Sept. 5: Transitions after trauma (in person MSP, almost sold out): https://lnkd.in/g5uXUJBQ Sept. 6: Exploring Health, What's your perspective? Webinar: https://lnkd.in/geUqrJai Sept. 10: Minnesota Recovery Connection's Rally (Caps) for Recovery with MN Twins https://lnkd.in/gVSMTCfT #mentalhealth #Recoveryispossible #FamiliesRecoverTogether #NationalRecoveryMonth

This week..., was a busy week. Thanks a lot for International Longevity Centre - UK for the kind invitation. Representing our patient organization GAMIAN-Europe in a greaaat roundtable discussion: uplifing, giving real hope. Our conversation was an enlightening journey into the accepting the diversity of mental health patients and the decades old, crucial need to understand the causes and effects at individual, relational, community, and societal layers. Our dialogue highlighted the need for an approach that is not just multi-disciplinary, but multi-dimensional too, understanding, daring to look at the complex interplay between individual circumstances and broader societal influences. It's time to bridge the gap between patient experiences and policy-making, ensuring that voices from all walks of life are heard and valued. Noone ever said, having a mental illness is "something nice", "or something good", there are bad, heavy things to listen to. Certainly we love success stories, maybe too much... I am grateful for the opportunity to bring the perspective of those directly affected by mental health policies to the forefront of this conversation. It's crucial that patient organizations have a seat at the table to advocate for the diverse needs of those we represent.
