The world’s largest independent supplier of feeder services, Singapore-headquartered X-Press Feeders, is confident the current upturn will persist several months ahead. With rates that have increased massively during 2024, and seem to continue to do so, X-Press Feeders’ COO Francis Goh is very optimistic. “I do not think it is going to crash soon or even this year. I would say it will persist the rest of the year without a big correction," he tells ShippingWatch. With a fleet of 100 feeder vessels, the carrier services the main shipping companies such as A.P. Moller - Maersk and EVERGREEN LINE in regions like Asia and Europe. #shipping #containershipping #freight #oceanfreight #logistics #business #globaltrade #business #europe #singapore

As the original wave of container terminal privatisations from the 1990s and 2000s approach the end of their initial terms, Drewry finds that changes in market forces have shifted the risk/reward balance for Port Authorities towards retendering the concession in certain market conditions. However, globally the general preference is to renew or extend with the incumbent operator. Read more at: https://lnkd.in/e5mwxPEU #shipping #ports #portoperations #terminals #containers

Discover the key cargo handling terminals in ports: Container Terminals: Efficiently manage loading, unloading, and storage of containerised cargo using large gantry cranes and straddle carriers. Bulk Cargo Terminals: Handle large, unpackaged commodities like coal and grain with conveyor belts and grab cranes, minimising cargo loss. Break Bulk Terminals: Safely handle oversized or awkwardly shaped cargo individually, such as machinery and steel beams, using specialised lifting equipment. Ro-Ro Terminals: Enable quick loading and unloading of vehicles and heavy machinery, reducing port stay times with easy access and efficient traffic flow. Liquid Bulk Terminals: Manage import and export of liquid cargoes like crude oil and LNG, adhering to strict safety and environmental regulations with specialised storage facilities. Multi-purpose Terminals: Versatile terminals accommodating containerised, bulk, and break bulk cargoes, offering flexibility to handle various vessel types and cargo. Understanding these terminals is crucial for efficient trade operations. Interesting reading as always from Drewry Shipping Consultants Ltd. Having been involved with many of the terminal concessions in the 2000s it's not surprising to read that a high proportion have been extended or renewed with the incumbent operators. There are however clear opportunities to re-tender in certain specific circumstances as highlighted below. A lot has clearly changed in the last 20 years or so and much of this learning can now be factored in to terminal concessions moving forward. There are many earlier LinkedIn posts on this topic on my profile. #ports #terminals #projects #concessions #commerciallaw
