German union Ver.di fears heavy staff cuts if DSV - Global Transport and Logistics takes over DB Schenker. ”We have no illusions. If DSV wins the race, the job losses will probably be the biggest,” Stefan Thyroke board member of DB Schenker tells media Finans. This never made sense to me - if an acquired member’s staff is handling 100 files a month how can this person be operationally cut? It’s simple math 1 1=2 , not 1 1=1
Why would you buy DB if you can't find 'synergies' ...
DB Schenker slashed, cut, and destroyed BAX without batting an eyelash. Senior managers at Schenker are ruthless, careless, and down right business destroyers. When DSV acquirers DB they should make the cuts at the senior management level. The money they would save would permit a reduction in line staff. It is the staff that moves and care for customers freight.
They will layoff for sure.
DB Schenker doesn't keep their word anyway, so best if someone else does take over that has a backbone, and is true to what they say. Let's be real, without trust, you can't really work as hard, or give them your all when you know that they will just lie to you. Been there done that. Thyssenkrupp Supply Chain Services of NA is the exact same way.
It's a no brainer there will be job losses
Maersk would never had any thoughts of staff cutting if they had any chance of bidding
Personnel cuts = collateral damage
