Scaling inspirational shopping traffic in the #NDC world in a sustainable way is one of the challenges our #travelseller and #airline partners are currently facing. But there is hope: with our partner Trip.com we have successfully tested our NDC Offer Repository concept to limit the polling of the airline’s core IT system. To run our test, we pre-computed and stored into the NDC Offer Repository specific city pairs. When Trip.com customers searched for one of these city pairs (in a live environment and over the period of four months), the results came, when eligible, directly from the offer repository instead of targeting the airline’s NDC IT system. And we were impressed with the results: ⛏ When the content searched was included in the NDC Offer Repository, the airline saw a 40% reduction in the number of times its core systems were polled. ⏱ Additionally, we saw a 30% improvement in how quickly search results were returned to the Trip.com users when sourced through the Offer Repository. 📈 And all of this with no negative impact on conversion rates, as our repository’s ability to improve processes did not compromise other flows or operations. The results of this pilot test are great news for our industry. Not only because we have found a way to overcome one of the main challenges of NDC scalability, also because the #travelinspiration stage is more and more relevant in the customer journey, and finally NDC can meet its requirements.
