Over the past few months, we’ve engaged in meaningful discussions and have several exciting initiatives in the pipeline. Here are some highlights of what we’ve been working on: 🌈 Upcoming Event: Next week, we’re hosting a special event to celebrate Pride Month and allyship in a relaxed and inclusive environment. Stay tuned on LinkedIn for a recap of our celebration! 📋 Policy Improvements: We’re actively discussing ways to enhance Easyfairs’ policies and best practices to better support LGBTQ members in the workplace and during hiring processes. 📅 Pride 365 Campaign: Pride isn’t just for June! We’re launching a year-round Pride 365 campaign, focusing on fundraising and supporting charities that uplift our community. 🤝 Allyship Training: We’re researching and developing allyship training to ensure all Easyfairs employees know how to be supportive allies to the queer community. Diversity is our strength, and we all should be committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone feels respected, valued, and empowered. Here's how we all can demonstrate our commitment: 1. Inclusive Policies: Update your policies to ensure they are LGBTQ inclusive. From anti-discrimination measures to learning resources, strive to create an environment where everyone can thrive. 2. June is Pride Month, a time to celebrate diversity, and inclusivity, as well as highlight the ongoing fight for equal rights and opportunities for the LGBTQ community. We are proud to stand with and support the incredible work of Mermaids, a charity close to our hearts.   Mermaids is dedicated to supporting transgender, non-binary, and gender-diverse children, young people, and their families. We believe that embracing and empowering all members of the trans community is crucial for any organisation, regardless of the industry. This is why we are honoured to fund Mermaids’ local group activities, which create a safe space to celebrate and uplift the community. Jo and the Thornicroft family have felt the benefit of the amazing work of this charity first-hand. The care they have provided, and their unwavering support have been a huge help and immeasurable comfort in such a turbulent and troubled time. We strive to support them, as they have us, in the hope they will be able to continue their important work and care for other families just like ours. 🌈 **Reflecting on Rainbow Washing: A Call for Authenticity in Corporate Diversity Efforts** As Pride Month approaches, we see a surge of corporations donning rainbow colors. While this show of support can be heartening, it's crucial to distinguish between genuine allyship and "rainbow washing." Rainbow washing happens when companies use rainbow motifs or LGBTQ support to appear inclusive without taking concrete actions to support these communities. It can undermine the genuine struggles for equality and inclusion faced by LGBTQ individuals. Here are a few thoughts on how businesses can avoid rainbow washing and practice authentic support: 1. **Long-term Commitment:** Diversity and inclusion should be a year-round endeavor, not just a once-a-year campaign. 2. **Policies and Practices:** Implement and maintain inclusive policies that protect and benefit LGBTQ employees. 3. **Community Engagement:** Support local LGBTQ initiatives and charities not just financially but through active participation and advocacy.
